One things for certain, when this phones comes out I will surely want it. But I am afraid that Orange will charge stupid amounts to upgrade to the new smartphone. A way around this is to start a new contract, but i have everyday 50 and i want to keep it!

I wonder what the prices of upgrades will be?

If we threaten to leave orange they will offer some sort of deal?

Probably £199 - £239 initially for an upgrade.

Ditto. O aren't interested in us as they don't make any money from E50 customers (in general) they are keen to offer us 'better value' contracts. Right, better value for them.

LMFAO. Not a chance in hell; they will probably help E50 customers on their way!!!

I'm sure i read somewhere that if you've been on your contract for more than 9 months and spend over £XX pounds a month n average then you're entitled to a free upgrade fee so you only pay the handset upgrade price? Can anyone reinforce or quash this theory?

The upgrade price is still stupidly overpriced! your right about the fee thing though. for example, the upgrade price for the e100 is over £200 on the orange website

At present O will charge an upgrade fee dependant upon what you spend per month and how long you have had the phone. It used to be a blanket that you had to wait 12 months no matter what you spent (business customers excepted). They then changed it to what you spend / how long youv'e had it. This has caused problems. My sources (well AMO anyway) have said that they are changing back to the 12 month free upgrade (i.e. no upgrade fee) quite soon.

As Brody says all you will have to pay is the handset fee!!

I know this is going off on one a bit, but I heard that Orange are offering money to people on ED50 in order for them to cancel their contracts.

A friend of a friend of mine received a call from Orange a few weeks ago offering her £1000 to stop her ED50 tariff. She declined of course. Anyone else heard more about this?

Might be true, but what is the £xx/month?

I recently upgraded 3 weeks before my contract expired and got charged £75 upgrade fee - but my bill is over £90/month!

Not sure if its best to accept their first offer. As time goes by they'll probably grow more desperate for you to cancel the tariff so they would offer you more.

For example, one of my mates got a One2One tariff around 1995 when mobiles weren't as popular as they are now. As One2One was fairly small back in those days and to try and attract customers they were offering a tariff that offered free evening and weekend local calls. My mate signed up to the tariff. Anyways, in 1999 they started contacting him, firstly offering him £1000, to cancel the tariff. He declined and still up to this day he still has the line. Apprently they have called a few times since offering more money, but he keeps turning it down.

Anyway, if anyone knows anything about the ED50 offer, let us know. ;) HINT HINT anyone working at Orange! :D

Up until a week ago I was on an OVP tariif matching O2's lesuire time plus. My bills were getting to high due to the peak charges. So i felt a change of tariiff was due. I phoned orange to take advantage of orange's 2 lines capability and put your plan on line 1 and off-peak plan on line 2. The off-peak plan was a 1000 off peak minutes to orange and landline for £20 per month. The lady said this would be possible but as we were about to finalise the change in tariff, she told me i can't have the off-peak plan, there was a mistake somewhere she said. She then said that as she told me i could have the off peak plan initially, she will offer me ED50 instead. I was shocked she offered it to me and didn't hestitate in saying yes!

It seemed as if she was dishing the tariff out to everybody! Yet Orange is willing to give £1000 pound for it's disconnection!

A £1000? OMG! I'll have to get using the 50 mins in the evening again, I don't use up that much of the talktime atm. If i remember I'll change my connection settings in the evening to use my minutes not my GPRS. I'm sure if you're using more free minutes they'd be more likely to offer it to you.
