Guest kingdom master Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 Spacemonkey please can u release your work so far on the mame emulator, i know you stopped working on it but i have a mitac mio and i know others have and im sure between us all we can get somthing working with what you have so far. thanks kingdom
Guest goinnuts Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 my spv will gladdly die the line duty for this app. i get anew one free in six weeks.
Guest muff Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 hate to break it to you folks (and I'm sure I'm repeating what has been said in other mame discussions) but the spv / e100 / mitac will not be able to run many (if any) games at full speed a desktop p133 with 16mb + sound card, can only just about manage Space Invaders and Pacman, and that's about it - and this has FAR more capability to do mults, divs + floating point than the phones processors (well it actually has them :) ) - all quite useful anything more demanding and it falters that's before you even consider the graphic distortions when resizing arcade graphics down to the phone's screen I think it's time to give this one up folks - at least until the phones are seriously more powerful and have better math support muff
Guest kingdom master Posted September 15, 2003 Report Posted September 15, 2003 if my crapy 486 can run it then the mitac atleast wil run some. spv wel doubtful but il try my best 2 get some functionality and im sure others wil 2 :-?
Guest spacemonkey Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 The Mame port I started ONLY gets as far as the loading screen etc... so I'm afraid at it's current stage of porting there is nothing for you to test. It's a project that I may pick up again at some stage, but there's not really high hopes of a successful useable app so it doesn't help motivate me. I have plenty of other real world work and smartphone work to do which will achieve more than Mame.
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Compared to a mobile phone an Intel 486 based computer is not exactly slow...
Guest unclelimey Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 it seems mame is not an option on our phones... its getting a bit boring how many people ask
Guest goinnuts Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 nnnnnnnnnoooooooooooooooooo.
Guest DMF Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 I think its a great shame the work on mame will slow down or stop altogether - i have over 11 gigs of mame roms - all excellent, and many of the earlier ones should work just fine.
Guest unclelimey Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 - i have over 11 gigs of mame roms - all excellent, and many of the earlier ones should work just fine. not on the spv they wont, as said before (many times), the spv cant handle it...
