Watching video clips (DivX)

Hi

I am new to SPV and have just purchased a 128mb card and want to watch video files.

I have the media player the phone came with but also downloaded Divx player. I do not however know how to even begin to install on phone .

I copied the whole divx folder of software to my memory card but doesnt show on phone as option ....I kind of guessed it wouldn't :)

Please help , Im a noob

ok first have u downloaded the right thing, it should be pocketMVP if you want to play divx movies (btw you have the use movies encoded in divx 5.02), you can get it from here:

The file is a .cab, to install this you need to copy the single .cab file to your phone and then run it. What i do is copy the cab to a folder in my start menu which i have called "To Install".

So u will need to connect your phone to your pc and explore to this directory:

IPSMWindowsStart Menu

then right click your mouse and make a new folder, calling it "To Install" or whatever u prefer. Now copy the cab from your pc to the folder you just made, then on the phone go to the start menu (its actually called "programs" the left opion on the homescreen) find the folder u made and run the program.

Make sure you change the selection to install it onto your stoarge card and not the phone, if u install too much on the phone instead of the card then it slows down the phone.

Now u can put movies anywhere on the storage card and pocketMVP will find them. If you want to find out how to reencode movies into dix 5.02 and optimise them for the smartphone then do a search on modaco, there are plenty of threads on the matter.
