Guest urdone311 Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Not to sound overly picky, but it was understandable for Smartphone 2002, but I would think that they would do some anti-aliasing or something like that to make icons have smooth edges....does symbian have smooth edges? I mean, the screenshots of 2003 still have that jagged stuff: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/inf...creenshots.mspx
Guest urdone311 Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 although the wierd thing is, the screenshot of the new motorola over at coolsmartphone.com> this is running 2002, and it looks CLEAR. Was this touched up by photoshop?
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 The screen resolution of SmartPhone2002/3 devices is 176x220 pixels. If you blow it up on your PC (running at a much higher resolution) you will always lose picture quality...
Guest pisquee Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Maybe the Motorola has ClearType on it?

Yea, i wonder if that motorola does have cleartype... If it does, its a good idea. ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 I always thought the 32x32 pixel icons on my tan looked very smooth considering the resolution. ;)
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 With most skins I don't think you'd even get this problem, it's just if you have a relatively high contrast background... ie: something light coloured compared to the icon's dark borders. Don't have a problem on my XBox skin :-D I'm more annoyed by the fact that I've now got a ridiculous amount of dust under my screen so I'm more likely not be be able to see the icons rather than notice their jagged borders :-P
Guest Rob.P Posted September 16, 2003 Report Posted September 16, 2003 Matt, u got O Care? If so you can get it replaced under that. Bit hard to compare pictures on the net as you never know how the picture was saved, it could have been saved with anti-a. I suppose it also depends on how close you hold the phone to your eyes.
Guest MECX Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 also looks like a photoshop jobbie on that moto
Guest fozzie Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Was this touched up by photoshop? Of course it was. I'm sure that very little commercially produced advertising material isn't!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted September 18, 2003 Report Posted September 18, 2003 Definitely an altered image. They had to compensate for the angle of the flip phone because it doesn't open completely flat and they couldn't submit a picture of the screen from a slight angle. Notice the screen-size differences in red. And what's with the screenshot on the right? Why does it say START instead of PROGRAMS? And why does the date say 10/17/03? Is that a screenshot from the future? SOmething tells me that's an OLD screenshot. Happy Birthday Eva!motorolaATT.jpg
Guest pisquee Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 10/17/2003 is the date (in american format) so it translates as 17/10/2003. It says "Start" because that is one of the changes in SP2003 OS
Guest pisquee Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 argh, something wierd just happened ... site kept saying "no post mode selected" when using the quick reply, so i assumed it hapdn't worked. The second one obviously got screwed up somewhere! Please can a nice mod sort the deletion of the extra posts. Paul ... have you been playing with the site again?! ;-)

BTW, I assumed the date was in American, because I coudn't figure out which was the 17th month. ;) I was just wondering why that date in the future? Is the date signifigant in some secret manner?
Guest Vector Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Is the date signifigant in some secret manner? Let's hope so ! ;)
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Matt, u got O Care? If so you can get it replaced under that. Actually no... but I guess I could join and take the extra payment hit - how much is that again?
