Guest memoreks Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Last night I turned off my phone, and turned it back on again. Nothing unusual there. However, when it came back on, it to ages to boot, and finally presented me with the standard Orange skin, as opposed to my The Office Skin. Further inspection found that all my settings had gone back to factory presets, my phone was app-locked again, and that I needed to configure all my settings all over again, not ot mention app-unlock it! My ringtones are still in the ISPM folder, so they survived, but the settings themselves when back to factory presets! The contents of the SD Card is also in tact, and the installed programs do show up on the Programs list. Has anyone got any idea what might have happened!? Is this a known bug?
Guest James Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 its done a self hard reset mate..... it hapends a lot mate... nothing you can do. registery could of been corupted of somthing like this...
Guest memoreks Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Nice! I would call that a fairly glaring bug that I hope MS has fixed in Windows Mobile 2003. First time it has happened since Janurary though, so I suppose I have been lucky....
Guest James Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 its kind of a backup feature.... it the phone gets an error it wont sit there and complain like a computer, it will just get back to a state where you can still use it as a phone.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 17, 2003 Report Posted September 17, 2003 Nice! I would call that a fairly glaring bug that I hope MS has fixed in Windows Mobile 2003. quote] Not a bug as such, as one of the main causes seem to be user error with dodgy XML or registry settings. As James said the phone has a self repair feature that when it finds an error it tries to fix it by defaulting the settings. his incude re-certing the phone again as well. ;) The only time I had this was when I was playing with a dodgy gapidraw app.
