WMPlayer's auto resizing of music files to fit smartphone!

Windows Media Player has the 'Copy to CD or Device. When copying to a device, the player converts "fold down" the music file to a size half of the normal mp3 files to fit the device. I've been trying to transfer my music files to my smartphone but to no avail. I learned that I need to install a patch that conforms to my device. But unfortunately the download site is not accessible for me as I am behind firewall that blocks the URL. Can someone please let me know of another URL where I can get the patch for the smartphone? Or can someone please send it to me...

Hmmmm I don't think I ever installed a patch!

As long as WMP is version 8 or above - it should work. Dunno if ActiveSync has to be installed .. never tried it without. And after I got my card reader, I never use this feature anymore ...

But like I said .. I never installed a patch.
