Unknown icon on MRU list after reboot

I've got an icon on my MRU bar that appears after I reboot the phone, but I can't tell what its for.

Its a pale yellow folder icon, with a grey/black square positioned diagonally in the middle of the folder.

I've checked the Startup folder, and the StartMRU list in the registry, but I cant tell what it is. When I try to run it I get "Error cant find [][][][]...more-than-a-screen-full...[][][] or one of its components"

Anyone know what I'm talking about, or what it is?

hhmm just looked on my phone and cant see an icon like that.

Only thing i can suggest is if you can find the .lnk file for it on the phone, copy it onto your PC and open it in Notepad to see what program it points to.

Thanks for that, I dont have an icon in my menus for it either.

Where do I find the .lnk files for items currently on my MRU (as opposed to the ones the phone starts with)?

cheers

ah er, i cannot find where the current MRU shortcuts are found :?

I would of thought tho that as its in the MRU there should be a .lnk for it in IPSMWindowsStart Menu

If not, i'm at a lose, sorry

The Tweaks thread has info on how to view and amend your StartMRU entries - it's worth a look.

Two things worth noting - the entries are listed in the key in reverse order and you need to have at least one or two blank lines after the last entry (which is the first IYSWIM) otherwise odd things can happen.

(I vaguely recall a problem similar to yours being caused by a lack of blank lines).

Cheers, Mark.

Also what ROM version do you have? it may help to narrow things down a bit.

Ahaa! The icon is a CAb file!

I've just installed LonghornSPVPro skin and the extras and I've now got 3 of them on my MRU!

Still haven't worked out what CAB is running when the phone starts though.

This happened to med too. The icon appeared after I edited the registry. Later I discovered that the editor (Microsoft's) added a new empty row in the StartMRU (a link to nowhere.) It seems that every time I close the StartMRU in the registry editor it creates a new empty entry. Does anyone know how you fix this?

yeah dont use Microsofts editor ;)

Download and use PHM Registry Editor (available on www.monolithix.org) on your phone instead :D

Thanks for the pointer, that's cleared it for me too (but I was using Resco Explorer to edit the registry)

I've tried the PHM editor too. I can't get that to work properly either. For some reason the last link in the MRU is corrupted. It's only the last link that doesn't work ("Can't find XX or one of its components...")

If I want Settings and Messenger to appear in the MRU I must add a third link. (The third link will be the blind one)

All the paths and filenames are correct.

I have no idea how to fix this, can someone please help me.
