If I wanna rip the sound from a divX-movie to make a ring tone. How to?

My mic is broken so I can't just record it.

If you use something like Cool Edit, you can play the movie on your PC, and record the sound real time as it's playing back. (In fact, windows sound recorder would probably do it too?) Just make sure that wave is turned up in the recording properties on your PC:)

I've tried that, but it records nothing. Any special setup I have to do first?

Just look at your "Play Control" Settings on your PC.(Usually double click the speaker icon in your taskbar) Make sure that "Wave" is turned up in Playback, then click, Options, properties and choose Recording, and make sure that either "Record Master" or "Wave" is turned up. You should be able to adjust the playback and recording settings so your level meter (in cool Edit or similar) is nice and high, without peaking.

There's a Save Wav option in Virtualdub under the file menu. Then all you would need to do is edit it in a wav editing program.
