Guest dal_l Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Hi Got my Mitac but just a bit confused about what IPSM is or main memory etc .... 32Mb ROM - I was told 24Mb reserved for SW and 8Mb for ???? 16Mb RAM - A colleague told me ... i cannot use anything here. When I install Resco Toys ... they have IPSM, Main memory and storage memory?! What is the difference? Anyone can help ....
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Welcome to the site ;) In simple terms IPSM is the storage memory alocated to a folder called IPSM on the phone Main memory is refering to the Physical memory ie RAM and Storage memory is refering to the Storage card.

Ya ... but are proggy installed in IPSM or in the main memory? Whenever I install a software, I only get prompt to choose 'Phone' or 'SDMMC' ... On the Mitac, the storage memory is not the storage card but it's part of the phone memory!? This is where it gets confusing ... 32Mb ROM & 16Mb RAM are split into diff. sections. The easy part is this:- The external storage is simply named SDMMC ...
Guest Will Posted September 20, 2003 Report Posted September 20, 2003 16 meg of memory you cannot use (holds the OS image and other stuff) 16 meg of memory you can use, and is shared like the memory on your phone, called IPSM and is saved over reboots SD/MMC is as big as the card you insert
