Guest paulperkins Posted September 19, 2003 Report Posted September 19, 2003 Hi All, After a couple of hours head-scratching over the past few days, I've finally worked out how to use my SPV as a modem from Linux. I would write it up fully here, but it is rather lengthy! The top-and-bottom is to load the usbserial kernel module, and then configure the device pretty much as you would any other serial modem. Feel free to wander over to http://www.paulperkins.net/linux/spv-modem.php to have a look. Note that this is only the UK setup, and I know that there's a lot of refinement to make it 100%, but it works for me every time. Any feedback would be most gratefully received. Paul.

The main gotcha with the SPV and GPRS (under linux?) is that it NEEDS to login! So the main tip is use the username "user" and the password "pass", however your chap secrets file baffled me, as the username is "user" I used this chap secrets entry: "user" * "pass" * and all was well.
