Media Player crash

I just received an E100 as an insurance replacement to my old SPV, having smashed the screen, and have not been able to get it to open media player yet.

Whenever I try to open in, the phone freezes on the programs menu and that's your lot. Have also tried to play files selecting them with smart explorer and 'open with'. That at least takes me to the blue media player screen, but then freezes on that.

The only joy I've had is playing a streaming clip over GPRS which was fine, but as soon as I tried to open another file.... no. All I could think was that it might be a problem with my SD card, but that has worked fine with my old SPV since last year.

It wouldn't be a problem if I could get them to play on something else, but PocketMVP freezes as soon as I try to open it, and pocket music is ARSE!

Have tried orange, but as soon as I got through and said a sentence with the word 'media' in it, i was transferred to the fax and data department... having explained to them that it was nothing to do with MMS, they transferred me to someone else who tried to transfer me back to them again... in the end I gave up and said I'd fix it myself.

Yup, tried hard reset... did nowt.

I have managed to get it to work if I use the old 8MB card, it'll open after a bit of a hang. So then I tried deleting a bunch of stuff off my 128 card, and I left one song on, straight on (not in a folder)... lo and behold, after thinking about it for a bit... it worked. Still sems to hang if there are more than a few songs on it though. Never had a problem with the SD card on my old SPV, and haven't had any other probs with files on the card, so I'm a bit puzzled.

would u consider upgrading the ROM? just a thought. ;)

Yeah, I've been considering upgrading the ROM, but thought I'd wait for the orange update, but I hear that's going to take a while to come out now.

I'd quite like to upgrage my rom... if only to inprove battery life, but just not sure which one to go for.

As for media player, it working a bit better now, but only if I put files straight onto the card and have no more than 10 or so, any more than that and it just hangs.

Bit annoyed with orange though, as despite the fact it was a brand new phone and shoul be under their warranty, they've washed their hands of it and have said because the insurance people replaced it, they'll have to sort it out.... my insurance,of course, have said because it's brand new and under warranty, orange should sort it.

Think I'll just going to take the plunge and go for the I-MATE ROM.
