Guest coley_8784 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Hi ppl... having a few problems with the silver volume buttons on my spv e100. The down volume button works fine but the volume up doesnt work. however if the phone is left with the keys unlocked it goes back up itself as if it is being pressed and keeps doing so even if its at full volume! ive given the phone a couple of turn off's and back on again but still seems to do it. Is it a fault with the phone? i havent been deleting things i shouldnt or anythin like that and ive only had the phone for about 2 and a bit weeks. Please help me if u can! thanks ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Sounds like the keys are sticking (which can happen) Before suggesting you get it replaced have you installed any tweaks on the phone etc before the problem appeared?
Guest coley_8784 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 no... its only just happened today and i havent installed anything on it lately.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 It sounds like it is the key sticking, I had the same problem with the action key back in April, it's a very similar problem, in that the key was acting as if it was being pressed. The only solution was to get a replacement :D If you have Orange care you can get a replacement by tomorrow ;) if not you can pay for emergency cover for about £30 plus you then have to take out a years warrany of £5 per month as well :?
Guest coley_8784 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 well i havent got orange care... but it is insured. but shouldnt i not be charges as its a phone defect and not caused by accidental damage?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 If you do not have Orange care the phone will need to be sent to Hays to be fixed (you need to speak to Orange first about this) Problem with hays is you could be without your phone for 14 days. You could try a hard reset but to be honest I would be surprised if it worked and knowing Orange they will tell you to do that first anyway.
Guest coley_8784 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 what if i set up orange care... and just coped with this little problem for as long as i can... probably a week or so cos its not affecting the phone too much, just is a little annoying. then claim on orange care for it. that should save me the £30?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Technically yes even though it's a bit dishonest of you ;)
Guest coley_8784 Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 well... 1) i am a tight fisted penny pinching tax dodging student so thats good reason enough and 2) im from the dodgy part of the south coast just to the east of u (pompey) so u know what we're like! thanks for ur help 8)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 pompey well what more can I say ;) only kidding :D
