Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 news story 1 news story 2 so not only will i not be able to use MSN mobile but i wont be able to use Trillian to connect to MSN either... The only reason i use MSN is because i can use it via Trillian because one group of friends use ICQ and the other MSN. one question though, does this mean the MSN Messenger sevice on our phones will stop working aswell? or will we have to pay for it?
Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 talking of MSN, i cant seem to connect for some reason.... it says the service is not available, anyone else having problems?

Guest Maverick Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 I think MSN mobile refers to the "alert" service (SMS email alert, weather, traffic etc) and other stuff that MSN provides. I dont think accessing hotmail thru mobile will be charged.

Guest chucky.egg Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Guys I dont know if I'm being thick (quite likely) or MS are being evasive (quite likely) but I cant tell whether I will have to pay to use MSN Messenger ONLY via my Smartphone. I dont use the hotmail email address, I only use Messenger and I only really use it on my Smartphone. Can anyone tell me whether I'm going to get screwed over?

As far as I can tell with my contacts in MS, only the notice will be charged. Messenger wilkl have to remain free of charge or else everyone will start using an alternative free service like ICQ, Yahoo! or similar. As it is I also use Trillian, which has recently been updated to avoid this MS lock-out.
