Guest peteyr Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Hi, This is my second post here so be gentle. I have an Orange SPV which is unlocked to work on my O2 (BT cellnet) SIM card. What I am trying to achieve is to APP UNLOCK my phone but everytime I try this from the Orange site I am "unable to make data call" from my phone. Could someone please advise me of a way, if any, to APP unlock my phone so that I can install unsigned software. I have tried all methods suggested by Orange to no avail. Do I need to have an Orange SIM, in which case I`ll go and buy a pay-as-you-go card. I`ve had a think about this issue and, to be honest, its stumped me. Thanks in advance for any advice you may be able to give. Regards Pete
Guest martin Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 If you don't have GPRS internet on your O2 SIM then you can set Internet Connection=Pass through on the SPV to use your PC modem link. If you get IMSI not found from the SPV app unlock site just press OK again to download action register program. Posted from my SmartPhone!
Guest peteyr Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 sorry, I`m a nonse, could you please be a little more basic as I am brand spanking new to all this smartphone/pc/activesync worldy type mystical stuff
Guest martin Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 OK peteyr Connect to the Internet on your PC using your modem link. Attach the SPV to the USB cable On the SPV goto Programs - Settings - Data connections and make Internet Connection = Pass through connection. (if pass through is not option then goto PC activesynch options and make the work connection = The internet). You should then be able to surf internet sites on the SPV using the PC's modem link.
Guest peteyr Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Right, so I know I have surfed fine using the SPV on my broadband link, if I connect it to the usb cradle then the GPRS call should go through?!? I guess I could always get o2 to update my sim to allow gprs calls  Thanks.
Guest Maverick Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Pass-thru basically means that your Smartphone connects to the internet via your PC. For this Activesync should be installed on your PC (its available in the CD that comes along with the phone). For this to work, as Martin said, you need to ensure your PC activesync > options > Rules > Pass Thru - is set to "The Internet" Just try to browse the internet from your phone when it is connected to your PC. If your are able to do so, then do not come out of Internet Explorer on your phone and try to Unlock via the Orange website.
Guest martin Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Yep, if the SPV is connected to the USB cable and able to surf the internet using the modem link then that should work for the unlock process. You can now access the developers site using your PC and enter all your details. A message will be send to the SPV to establish the Internet connection to a mystery site where the unlock process will begin.
Guest peteyr Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Good, Now I have that message on my SPV which is continually trying to make a GPRS call, but keeps failing. will the PC connection help this? Oh, and thanks for being so patient with me
Guest martin Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 Have you tried setting the passthrough connection yet ?
Guest peteyr Posted September 23, 2003 Report Posted September 23, 2003 I have now. I`ll be home in 30mins so I`ll plug it in then and let you know what happened...cheers buddy. ;)
