Help desktop gone funny

My desktop has gone funny:

the light blue bit on the left, like half a folder?? right click gives nothing.. cannot move. Survives a reboot..

ANY IDEAS?

Have you changed some crazy active desktop settings?

Try disabling the side bars.

Then putting them back on.

What was the problem in the end?

some reg hack worked.. recommended via irc, i never even looked at it to be honest.

I think it was something to do with a folder options flag i had added to the desktop folder!!
