SPV as a modem (again)

I've read as many post as I can find on this topic but it still doesn't work as a modem. I use my SPV on Orange JustTalk, so I don't subscribe to GPRS (although I have a G on the display).

I don't really mind how I connect, providing it works, I've tried using the init string "+cdgcont ..." and the *99# as a number, as well as no init string and using my ISP username and DUN number. Still no good.

I get the ^v arrow when I dial, but the connection fails - often the "connnecting" box hangs.

Any suggestions?

What PC OS are you running?

Windows XP Pro, have tried USB and IR, have done original update (is there another?)

ah, sorry just re-read your original post.

AFAIK you need to have GPRS enabled to use the modem functionality :?
