need advice on making a very simple skin

hello peeps,

i've just been looking at my phone and im fed up with my nice gothicy underworld background not matching my theme, orange, menus etc

question is, is there a way i can copy a theme and merely change the colours, i don't really keep up with SPV changes but if there was a simple way of changing the styles colour, to match the back ground that would help loads....

If you get into it a bit more...you can open the homescreen XML in a notepad app and change the colors there as well.
