How to check if smartphone is application unlocked?

I know how to check if a smartphone is sim locked or unlocked, but what about application? How do I check that?

Try running an unsigned game or app.

If it runs your phone is app unlocked.

Ok, i'll check it out - is there a way to do this without installing any applications? Are Mio 8380's mostly app unlocked or app locked?
