Switching Smartphones

Hi All,

Is there some 'switcher' or upgrade utility that they make that will easily allow you to transfer data between smartphones?

I swap cellphones very often, however, I don't swap my PDA's as often because of the pain of transferring all of the data and getting the syncronization to work again etc...

So, forexample, if I had the Mio Mitac and then wanted to switch to the SPVx or vice versa, is there something out there that would transfer my data? I'm assuming no, but it's worth a shot!

Both phones use SD so just change the cards over ;)

But you'd have to install the apps (or at least shortcuts to them in the Start Menu) as well wouldn't you?

The P800s are quite clever about it. I dont know how it works, but if you remove the Memory Stick it removes links to apps that are installed on it, and when you put it back it puts the icons back!

And transfering details etc would require the same.

As for the P800 prehaps it actually plces the links etc on the

card and it reads the card direct?

Yeah, I would have to reinstall all the applications again, wouldn't I? What about all my contacts/calendar/etc?

Thanks

After you have changed your sd card and pasted the shortcuts;

I asume that orange backup or similar is present on these phones, so you could always use that to keep your contacts and numbers updated.

And even better if you didn't want to use up your GPRS data to do so, just use pass-through> :wink:

Orange backup is not on a Mitac Mio blewer :/

But, MitzEclipse, you can sync your contacts etc with Outlook on your PC ;)

You would have to install the same apps and sync your calender/contacts/etc., but if you have other data you need to sync, Smart Sync-It Smart Sync-It might be of some use to you...
