Guest Orneta Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Now you can upload and download any files through FTP from your smartphone! Download this program now from Handango: go to www.orneta.com and click on "Orneta FTP". (MoDaCo scripts are changing URL and then there is no way you can download trial version if we place link to Handango here, therefore you need to go to our site first and click on "Orneta FTP" link). Important notice 1: this program is fully functional in trial version. But in this version you can upload/download only one file per session. To upload/download more than one file you need to exit the application and enter it again. If you buy it (just $4.44 = 3.9 Euro = 2.7 GBP ) then you can download and upload without the need to exit and enter it again. Important notice 2: this program is working - both uploads and downloads work. However we have not completed testing yet and if you will notice problems then let us know - we will correct them as soon as possible!!! WE KNOW THAT Orneta FTP IS NOT PERFECT YET, but we are commited to continue improving and correcting it until it will be perfect. PLEASE HELP US IN TESTING!!! 8) 8) 8) Sometimes it is useful to be able to upload files from your cell phone to the server. With Orneta FTP you can do just that! Moreover you can also download files and comfortably browse directory structure both on the server and on the smartphone through built-in graphical mini-browsers. Imagine: you can take some pictures with camera of your cell phone and then you can upload them directly to the FTP server! You can edit or prepare some documents or files on smartphone and then upload them to the server! Some selected features of the Orneta FTP are: * performing uploads from smartphone to server through FTP protocol * downloading files of any type from server to smartphone through FTP protocol * graphical mini-browser (convenient list view form) for remote browsing of directories on the server (selecting the directory from where files should be downloaded or to where files should be uploaded) * graphical mini-browser (convenient tree view form) for local browsing of directories on the smartphone (selecting the directory to where files should be downloaded and selecting file to upload) * remembering several connections - host name of FTP server, user name, password, etc - so that next time during start up, there is no need to type everything again * trial version is fully functional with just one limit: only one file can be downloaded or uploaded per one session; to download or upload again you need to log out and log in again - so you can use this program for free if you don't need more files at once! * in full version (that costs just $4.44 = 3.9 Euro) you can download or upload any number of files in one session + you get support from us through e-mail THIS PROGRAM IS CODE SIGNED AND WORKS IN ANY SMARTPHONE. PLEASE TEST IT :!: :!: :!: AND GIVE US FEEDBACK !!! We will be testing and improving this program over coming weeks strongly!!! Any feedback or suggestions are very warmly welcome
Guest JRC Posted September 25, 2003 Report Posted September 25, 2003 Big bug !! We canno't use the back key in the dialog's host FTP parameter !!!
Guest Uzay Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 starting testing this app BIG TIme... how did i miss this app and topic... i do not know...
Guest JRC Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 We cannot specify port TCP, the ftp can use another port that the 20/21
Guest Matt Whitfield Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 I really want this app, so I hope you guys sort it out. I was even tempted to buy it before you got it working properly but I can't actually connect to anything at the moment. I've tried connecting to a ProFTP server on Linux and a WinSock FTP server on Win2K. Neither worked. I also tried establishing a GPRS connection before using it and again that didn't work for either server... If you can put out an update I'm happy to try again :-D Keep up the good work guys. Cheers,
Guest x540 Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 hello same problem than Matt. except i've tried on the SPV with an internet connection via another provider (than Orange) who have all ports opened ;) question: does orneta ftp handle ftp anonymous connection ? and does it work with not specifying login/pass ?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Well I am looking forward to this a LOT - backkey not working in setup is really annoying (and unfortunate lil bug *hæhæ*) - can't really connect to anything .. either via GPRS or Pass Through Edited: - don't know if it's just the trial ... but it doesn't save your accounts
Guest Coucou Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 I take it if I don't know what an FTP server is then I'm probably not the target for this software am I? lol
Guest fozzie Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 don't know if it's just the trial ... but it doesn't save your accounts Mine saves the accounts fine - although I haven't been able to connect to anything yet ;)
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Mine saves the accounts fine - although I haven't been able to connect to anything yet ;) Just noticed if I make the account .. and say cancel, instead of connect to .. it saves the account for next time I open up the program... but not if I "connect to" right away...
Guest Crispy Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Just noticed if I make the account .. and say cancel, instead of connect to .. it saves the account for next time I open up the program... but not if I "connect to" right away... Yes, I get that too ;)
Guest (KGB)Beria Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 When editing an account, the FTP password not only ends up in its intended text box, but in the remote start folder as well! ... small bug that can be resolved easily ;) I haven't been able to test the FTP connectivity though because GPRS is down in my cell I guess...or is it necessary to open a GPRS connection in IE before using this tool?
Guest x540 Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 well, version 1.04 doesn't work better. i got this msg as i try to connect: can not establish ftp connection. windows error 12007 service name not resolved.......
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 well, version 1.04 doesn't work better. i got this msg as i try to connect: can not establish ftp connection. windows error 12007 service name not resolved....... Yeah I get the same error in version 1.04 - it doesn't help if I make a GPRS connection first either...
Guest (KGB)Beria Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 Get the very same error here as well with 1.04
Guest Orneta Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 hello same problem than Matt. except i've tried on the SPV with an internet connection via another provider (than Orange) who have all ports opened ;) question: does orneta ftp handle ftp anonymous connection ? and does it work with not specifying login/pass ? Yes it can handle annonymous connections, but you need to put user name "anonymous" and password any or [email protected] . Orneta FTP 1.04 is now code signed. We, were testing Orneta FTP with passthrough connection and it was working. We will be yet debugging it a lot, also with GPRS. We will publish soon, in 1-2 weeks, next version and we would like then get these all problems resolved.
Guest axe Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 hmmm i wonder if the guys at ornetta know that there's a BIG difference between pass though and GPRS ... wasn't the smartphone VNC client also not able to connect without pass through ?
Guest MoRFLeZ Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 I for one would like to hear ANY positive feedback ... like has anyone managed to connect to anything!??
Guest Nailer Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Nop, didn't work for me either. Neither wit hostname och IP, it doesn't connect to anything unfortunately... Accounts are saved OK though... //Micke
Guest Cornetto Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Yup, thats another Windows Error: 12007, Service name not resolved (actually service is probably a typo, should be server). Noticed that if no active GPRS link, takes about 2 sec for 12007 message but if active link then about double this. Perhaps then it might be getting as far as trying to identify the server. I hope Orneta manage to get it to work with GPRS; I could really use this program a lot. About (ftp) ports not being open - does this mean that even if client is fixed, it won't be able to work on Orange (UK) network ? Reason I ask is that I can use SPV as a modem for my PC, logging onto Orange network and ftp (etc) works fine. More useful than passthrough; you can ftp from your mobile, but only if its immobile on a PC which will have an ftp client already ](*,) Anyone know if ftp from Orange SPV in UK is going to be possible if Orneta get a fix ?
Guest Orneta Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Version 1.05 is released ! Please download and test it! Remember: you can use this program FOR FREE if you limit yourself to download/upload of just one file per one session! We have tested it and removed some errors in version 1.05. Let us know if it works for you now?
Guest Cornetto Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 OK this is very good. I can connect to a Win2K server when it is identified by IP numbers. I can apparently set the remote upload folder (ie it does list correct directories) and apparently set download folder. (NB I assumed that I would need an active GPRS link first). I have managed to upload an html file from the phone to the server I have also managed to download an ascii file to phone ;) Nice work guys =D>
Guest Cornetto Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 Two small bugs remain: 1) Cann't resolve IP addresses, need IP number 2) Occasionally crash when selecting remote upload directory These are minor points. Even with them this is a very useful program now. Just wondered, but how about a TELNET client (nothing currently works for Orange SPV) :-)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 Tried SmartTelnet? (Link on my site...)
Guest fraser Posted October 5, 2003 Report Posted October 5, 2003 Did anything come of the SSH client? Telnet is so 70s!! 8)
