Guest Transform Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 i have one of the orange deals and get with it 12 months free open access which i presume means wap, right? anyway i would like to configure my phone's internet settings so that i am able to browse via wap. it is currently set to gprs which costs me money. a 'G' appears next in between the battery and the signal icons. is there an icon which lets you know your using wap and not gprs? also what is the difference between them? is it just the speed they run at? please could someone help me set this up?
Guest blewer Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 Your package is free wap over GPRS. As long as your settings are set to wap and that you are viewing wap sites you will not be charged. ;) The 'G' icon should be there.
Guest Transform Posted September 26, 2003 Report Posted September 26, 2003 could you tell me what each setting should be on so that im not using the wrong stuff. i have no idea. thx.
Guest martin Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Transform The open access is 12 months free WAP usage ;) The are two networks which can offer a data connection for your SPV. 1 The GSM (Circuit Switched) network 2 The GPRS (Packet Switched) Network The SPV contains both Internet software and WAP software, both of which require a data connection. What is free ? Goto Programs - Settings - Data connections. Use of the Internet connection IS NOT part of Open Access. Internet Connection : Orange GPRS (Internet over GPRS) Internet Connection : (ISP dialup) Any use of the WAP Connection IS Part of Open Access. WAP Connection: Orange WAP (WAP over GPRS) WAP Connection: Orange CSD WAP (WAP over GSM) Most people stick with WAP over GPRS as its quicker. To set the IE browser to use the WAP connection only. Internet Explorer - Menu - Options - Connections Untick 'Auto Detect Settings' and make 'Select Network: WAP Network'. Use wsp://(WAP addresss) to use the WAP conenction. Orange WAP homesite is wsp://orange.multimedia Please note that MSN messenger and E-mail make use of the Internet Connection and therefore these remain chargeable (per kb). Hope this helps
Guest Transform Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 do i need to change any of the settings in data connections?
