Guest tiger Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 Friends, I upgraded my Sap to Imate and it was fine gor me until last night when i accidentally imported sms mail from my sim. Of course my SAP, after retrieving them immediately recognized them as unread mail and promptly sounded my sms tone, there's about 11 of them. Since i don't need to read them anymore, I promptly erased them, without reading them with the Imate sms deleteall messages command. They were all erased but lo and behold, after i got back on my home page, the sms counter was still displaying 11 unread messages. I went to inbox again but there is no more messages there and i checked all the folders too. out of desperation i just turned my SAP off for a few minutes hoping it will go away. But after i turned it on the system promptly informed me that i have new messages and the sms counter was at 11 again. I tried to do it again, imported the same messages and promptly erased them without reading them with the deleteall command and as i expected the counter now stands at 22 unread messages. Has anyone encountered this problem???

But i think i have the solition, without deleting your cemail.vol file and nuking all of your texts/mail. bear with me, and if this does not work for you i am sorry! firstly you need some sort of reg editor (I used dbviewsp) available on Monolithix's site. 1) use the DBViewSP editor to go to IPSMcemail.vol 2) under that go to 'pmailNamedProps' and select it to edit the values 3) scroll down to the very last 2 values, which should be called 'UnreadCou...' 4) delete them 5) restart 6) smile coz u just got rid of that damn annoying message thing!! hope that this works for you guys, it worked for me! Please if you do do this make a backup of your .vol file 'just in case'! sometimes even this genius makes a breakthrough... [Edited to replace reg editore with DBViewSP - Will] ================
Guest diamondsnake Posted September 27, 2003 Report Posted September 27, 2003 I'm using I-mate and I did not encounter such problem.But I got a friend with that "phantom sms" on his SAP 1.3.7. I think he did a Hard Reset to fix that bug, I guess it works because I don't hear him complains anymore.
