Guest snowycelica Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 is there a way to remove the beep sound? Thanks
Guest martin Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 snowycelica Do you have the Qtek update by any chance. There is a really annoying and loud double beep on startup  The startup sound uses the parameters set in the Notification Category (see Settings - Profiles) therefore if you were to change the Notfication volume to off it will also affect other sounds ie. SMS You should be able to turn off the startup sound seperately by using the registry editor. HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/SystemStart. Create a new value. Click Values tab Click Menu - New Value - String Value Name: Script Value (leave blank) This string should overwrite the string in Notification category and therefore play nothing (no p in string value). Try turning your phone off & on now
Guest snowycelica Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 why i still get the beep sound after i do the registry stuff? did i do anything wrong? should i highlight this part or click into it when i create value HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/SystemStart after i create the new value called string now i see Category Sound String inside...is that right?
Guest snowycelica Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Control Panel/Sounds/SystemStartup Select 'Values' Select 'Sound' Change Value Data to the path and name of your wav (eg, if you save the wav to IPSMWindows then the value is simply IPSMWindowsblah.wav, where blah.wav is the name of your wav file of course) oh i managed by following this
Guest martin Posted September 28, 2003 Report Posted September 28, 2003 Sorry my fault  The Value Name should be Script and I wrote Value Name=String by mistake  I've corrected the above now. In the SystemStart sound I have these values Category Script Sound Script parameters are Value Name: Script Value Data : (blank) Value Type; REG_SZ Of course you can change the filename in the Sound Value instead as long as the OS doesn't keep correcting it.
Guest ranzz Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 Umm, is there a way to disable the vibration on start?! I noticed that when you disable the startup sound (or change it like I did) or when you're on silent / airplane mode the vibration is a lot longer!
Guest martin Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 ranzz Using the registry editor check the Script Value under SoundCategories/Notification as I suspect there will be a V (for vibrate) showing there. From the phone menu you can disable the notification vibrate with Programs-Settings-Profiles. Edit active profile and change the Notification type.
Guest ranzz Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Well I do want my other notifications, so I'll leave it. BUT: Why can't I set a startup sound from my memory card? I set the correct path but it just defaults back to some alarm or something... is it suppose to be possible?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 There is a delay on bootup before the card is accessable.
Guest ranzz Posted November 2, 2003 Report Posted November 2, 2003 Ahh. good point, well I was just trying to save myself some space on the IPSM (the startup sound is 414KB) but I'm good with 4.15MB free on IPSM cause I moved my ringtone (1.3MB) to the Storage Card. this should do it :) thanks.
