Guest Psi_Man Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Hi there, I was wondering what it takes to become a developer for smart phones. What programming languages would i need to learn? where's a good place to start? and is it hard to break into the industry? any help with this would be greatly appreciated thanks Psi
Guest drblow Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 Hello m8! Welcome to the forum. Have a look in the developers section. As far as I know you need C++, but I don't know much!
Guest philipnorth Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 well, you can check out microsoft's smartphone site, it has a nice SDK especially for pocket pc+smartphone. If it's easy to get in the industry? I dont know, its a booming business, so there are some chances, but it all depends on yourself in the end. Most used languages are c++ I believe, also some VB. I'm gonna look into this myself as well, need to take some more "paid-by-the-boss-courses" :D http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/default.mspx is a good place to start I'd say here you can find some downloads for smartphones for developers: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/res...ne/default.mspx The always necessary white papers: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/res...rs/default.mspx Hope this helps you a bit ;) Good luck programming!
Guest Richie M Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Just to clear some confusion here; All development for programs running on the Smartphone 2002 platform is in C++, there is no support for VB. http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&DisplayLang=en If you wish to develop for the forthcoming Windows Mobile 2003 Smartphone Edition, this support .NET Compact Framework (CF, VB.NET, C# & C++ i believe) http://www.msdn.microsoft.com/library/defa...mobilesmart.asp Microsofts _FAQ_ is http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default....l/devmobfaq.asp
Guest philipnorth Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 my mistake on the VB ;) sorry bout that, guess I had SP2003 in mind :D
