Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 29, 2003 Report Posted September 29, 2003 I currently have a SPV on vodafone, the contract runs out at the start of november. so i have a couple of options the first one is to switch from vodafone to orange and get an E100 (or if its out in a month) SPV2. the other option is... ive seen a deal where i can get Crossnet 200 (200 anytime, cross network minutes a month) and £12 of SMS/MMS (so basically 100 free txts cus i dont use MMS) costing me £22 a month for the first 3 months and then £36 a month after that. the best bit of the deal is that i get a Nokia 7250i (stay with this one...) and £50 cash back. so checking out ebay i find that brand new, boxed, simunlocked 7250i's go for between £200 and £250, add to that the £50 cash back, + whatever i can get for my old SPV will allow me to buy a brand new SPV2 or Mitac 8390 (when they come out) for hardly anything? does this sound alright?
Guest Greywolf_Ghost Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 All but the Nokia part ;) sounds ok. I am just not a big supporter of Nokia these days. I have had a few now and they have all been crap. The best news is you do get an SP in the end...means you can toss the Nokia in the Themes River. Did I spell that right?
Guest mcwarre Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Angel, Won't you be tied into a contract with the nokia for 12 months (total of £390, when you can only get £200-£250 for it so £140-£190 out of pocket!)? When you get the SP you will have to take out another contract (12 months again). Selling the nokia may well give you the dosh to get a SP but why bother; it means that you will have two contracts! (for the £36 a month for 200 cross network and text is poor). Why don't you use O's offer of 6 months interest free credit? So nopt a good deal really!
Guest AngelOfRage Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 When you get the SP you will have to take out another contract (12 months again) the plan was to sell the nokia and my old SPV + the 50 squid and then buy a SPV2 simfree off ebay or something like that.. therefore ill have one contract with vodafone no different to what im on now (in fact cheaper for the first few months) and enough cash (hopefully) to buy a SPV2 or mitac 8390
Guest mcwarre Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Angel, To get an SPV2 or MITAC off of eBay will coat about £350 (at least) within a month or two! Look here first
Guest chucky.egg Posted September 30, 2003 Report Posted September 30, 2003 Sounds like a lot of hassle to be honest I'd stick with Vodafone until your contract expires, then get the E100 or C200 (if it's out) on a new contract with Orange. I just signed a new contract for 200 cross network mins and 84 texts a month for £30 which is about the same as what you've been offered. The new handsets like the MPx200 will be very expensive for the first few months, but the C200 might not be because it is basically another re-hash of the original SPV. Getting one on ebay might be pot luck, and there's always some dofus who'll bid way more than it's worth and nick it off you at the last minute!
