Guest petermatheson1 Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Hey there, i'm a new SPV owner, had it for just under a week now. I got a 256mb SD card now.. But ever since i've had that card in, for some reason the settings arn't saved Skin settings are fine...but it's the power management which is bothering me However many times i got into the Power Management screen the backlight timeout will always be 10 seconds, and the screen saver will always be "turn off" I repeatedly switch it to 30 seconds, and "none"...yet i come back into the settings, and it's changed back again!! Any ideas? Oh, and excellent forums, great advice on here guys, cheers
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 May sound daft but just checking, when you go to the Power Management screen and change the settings, are you pressing the soft key Done to confirm the changes in the settings?
Guest petermatheson1 Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 yup! pressing done on Power m'mnt screen and then done again to get back to menu's. It's been fine for the moment..(5 mins) although havn't run any other programs yet
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 There are a few apps that can change the settings, PocketMVP used to do it as a way of keeping the backlight on.
Guest petermatheson1 Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Ah, thats it! Pocket MPV, Cept how do I change it? Is there a file I can edit in Pocket MPV to make settings go back to 30 secs and None, instead of 10 seconds and Off??
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Make sure you exit the app properly, simple as that. Or check the menu options in PocketMVP you can turn the backlight on and off there with the newer versions.
Guest petermatheson1 Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 yeah, I have version .8.041303 it has the option to turn backlight on / off but even if I exit program properly, it still resets the power management!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Strange unless that is the default setting of the app :? One thing though, why do you want to disable the screen saver? it helps battery life.
Guest petermatheson1 Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 when i'm at work I want to be able to check my phone quickly for any messages I may of missed (although it vibrates, I still miss lots of messages!) With the screen off, i have to get phone out, unlock the phone, look, and then lock it again!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 3, 2003 Report Posted October 3, 2003 Ah ok fair enough ;) you could press the left soft key twice to bring the display on just to check for messages. The first press gives you the unlock message and the second (cancel) takes you back to the main screen.
Guest PsychoDave Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 You can also press the power button quickly and that will bring the backlight on without the unlock screen coming up. Might save you a few nanoseconds ;)
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 4, 2003 Report Posted October 4, 2003 Never realised that #-o  ](*,) Cheers PsychoDave
