Guest sebset Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 ;) News posted yesterday... here: http://sg.news.yahoo.com/031007/16/3erad.html Tuesday October 7, 2:09 PM LG Electronics Develops High-Resolution Smartphone SEOUL, Oct 7 Asia Pulse - LG Electronics Inc. (KSE:66570), South Korea's second-largest handset maker, said today it had developed a high-end mobile phone, also known as a smartphone, equipped with a 1.1 mega pixel digital camera. In a brief statement, LG Electronics said the phone, priced at some 800,000 won (US$694.40) would be available in stores by the end of this year. The device has a total of 192 MB memory and uses Microsoft's operating system for handheld computers. The launch of the high-resolution smartphone is aimed at competing with Samsung Electronics (KSE:05930), which introduced a similar model last July. The sleek handset also offers a camcorder-like feature that allows users to record moving images for an hour, the company said. (Yonhap)
Guest morpheus2702 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 If you ask me this is a lot more significant than the 'Sierra Wireless' rumour/confirmation!
Guest sebset Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 so what is it... a pocket PC phone or a smartphone?
Guest midnight Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 If you ask me this is a lot more significant than the 'Sierra Wireless' rumour/confirmation! how can you say that without seeing the respective devices? lg may produce a dog and sierra may come out with the best mobile on the market, who knows until we see specs, photos etc.
Guest mores Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 picture pictures pictures ! i want to see pictures ! (lg usually has a pretty neat design, so i'm excited !)
Guest Richie M Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 ;) after the last LG "Smartphone" announcement i'm keeping well out of this one :D
Guest deepak Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 my god that sierra bit was a real bad news....what a lousy looking device that one is that to with nothing in it and still its expected in the next to next quarter ;) ...... LG still sounds so cool and for sure would have a beter design then sierra.... all manufactures should make wifi and bluetooth compulsary....if they can have it in a clie...or for that matter in ipaqs....then why should we get all this on smartphones in instalments..... microsoft has already done its work and now the manufacturers just need to give us the complete one...i think this forum then is more then competent to take on the world..... spv2 with a better processor and clamshell model ...maybe asus or if anyone can better that to....for this moment i have decided to go for spv2....
Guest morpheus2702 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 If you ask me this is a lot more significant than the 'Sierra Wireless' rumour/confirmation! how can you say that without seeing the respective devices? Simply because LG is a manufacturer with a good record of innovation and good experience in the global consumer electronics market place. Sierra Wireless - hmmm, who are they outside of North America? Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I'm not - but that was even before I saw the Sierra Wireless design, trust me!
Guest Gorskar Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Unfortunately it is not a Smartphone afterall. It's a PPCpe, and I have to admit a damn nice looking one too!
Guest Vector Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 A very nice looking ppcpe ;) i wanna stick with smartphone tho :D
Guest midnight Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 rumours are that isnt the smartphone device, and that LG are announcing several devices at ITU this week and one is a smartphone, we'll have to wait and see i suppose
