Guest chucky.egg Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 just been using messenger on my phone and i had an 'im' from the messenger team saying i was using an out of date messenger which needed updating... i guess that confirms that the spv messenger will not work from 15 oct Posted from my SmartPhone! What was the actual message? There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer ANYWHERE that says "version xyz will work, version abc won't work". Mr Orange has posted saying that they will be testing an update in the "next week or so" and if internal and external testing goes OK it will be available "a few weeks later".
Guest Jakob Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Cropped from MS website - will add the link later.. In an effort to ensure the latest security and privacy protections, Microsoft recently updated the .NET Messenger Service, requiring customers to install an updated client in order to continue accessing the Service after October 15, 2003. Microsoft is working with its mobile operator partners to make updates available for all Windows Mobile-based Smartphones soon. We apologize for any service interruptions. MSNĀ® Messenger is the only feature impacted by this update. Some Windows Mobile-based Smartphones will be compatible with the new protocol out-of-the-box and customers will not need to take any action in order to access MSN Messenger after October 15. Please check back for information on update availability. Seems like Messenger on Smartphone 2003 will work after 15th Oct - but Smartphone 2002 users will have to wait... >>> Link to MS website <<< /Jakob
