This is according to Microsoft: What is the MSN Messenger Update? The MSN® Messenger Update ensures that our customers have the latest security and privacy protections when using the .NET Messenger Service. All .NET Messenger Service clients, including Windows Mobile-based Pocket PCs, Pocket PC Phone Editions, and Smartphones, are required to update their clients to compliant versions of Messenger service client software by October 15, 2003. What do I (Windows Mobile-based device customer) need to do? Customers of Pocket PC and Pocket PC Phone Edition devices with Windows Mobile software (2002 and 2003) should download and install the appropriate update from Microsoft prior to October 15, 2003 to prevent any MSN Messenger service interruptions. Microsoft is working with its mobile operator partners to make updates available for our Windows Mobile-based Smartphone customers. Certain Windows Mobile-based Smartphones will be compatible with the new protocol out-of-the-box and customers will not need to take any action in order to access MSN Messenger after October 15. For information about update availability, please check back at this Web site. What happens if I don’t download the update for my Windows Mobile-based device? After October 15, customers who have not installed the updated client will no longer be able to access the .NET Messenger Service (utilize MSN Messenger on their device). This will not impact any other features on the device.

Hehehe... Well, most probably... it will take about another 3 months before they can come up with an update... but hopefully, they make it before the 15th... unless a dwnloadable version is available form Microsoft... all we can do is wait. I'm just happy that I've updated my Pocket PC and heard it shows off a different Icon when I'm logged on wile I'm mobile. (it's something other people can see... but not me... ) Mabuhay! ~ Carlo
