Guest chucky.egg Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Nice specs, but the design isn't my idea of good :?
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Nice keyboard idea! I like it. Oh and....I told you so!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Look how the search function is searching thru contacts as well as favorites, notes, files and a possible football database!
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 What is ALWAYS THERE email? A spinoff of Always On? That's funny! My email program is ALWAYS THERE! Where's the camera? ;) I vote that I like the design though. It's pretty cool. I'm not hung up on size and it doesn't look THAT big! Is it GSM or CDMA or Both?
Guest midnight Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Ah, but is your email free, which this seems to be ;) as for camera, they say its a business phone, guess they dont think business users need a camera and its GSM ... It operates on international GSM/GPRS networks in the 900, 1800, and 1900 MHz bands, or 850, 1800 and 1900 MHz bands.
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Ah, but is your email free, which this seems to be ;) What is free email? Please explain. And GSM...... :D for me.
Guest James Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 i like the design but i am not sure about the keyboard..... and as Keystroke said it does look BIG!
Guest broeren79 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 I think it is very Ugly! It's big, and i wonder about how the keyboard will hold. That flapping part will obviously break one day!
Guest midnight Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 hmmm, it is big, just mocked up a quick size comparison.... cant be judged as accurate, but should be close enough i think
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Reminds me of the Siemens (?) phone they had in the Matrix 2. ;)
Guest Gorskar Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Nice spec - shame about the lack of a camera and the HUGE size though. Still its nice to see inovative new smartphones.
Guest midnight Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 i actually think its ok, kinda reminds me of the compal phone actually
Guest stuartd Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 That looks like someone's idea of a futuristic phone from about 10 years ago. The idea is good enough, but the execution is...lacking to say the least. In addition I hope it functions better than the Sierra Wireless Air Card's as I had the fortune to set up a dozen of them in company laptops and found performance to lag very far behind that of a 56K Modem, something the Vodafone sales people had (so my manager told me) claimed it would practically match.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted October 8, 2003 Report Posted October 8, 2003 Looks like MS is going toe-to-toe with nokia when it comes to the 'radical innovation' bulls***... I mean Sierra should be congratulated on one innovation... time travelling back to the 1970s and stealing the design from Dr Who's sonic screwdriver set What a great week for Smartphone - same processor in SPV E-200 as SPV, ditto Moto and the new phone on the block looks hideous.
Guest Myke Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 woohoo! an integrated keyboard!! still not as cool as the mock up I made, but its a start. Ive gotta see it in person. It looks like it might be cool
Guest nickcornaglia Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 It's funny to see the reactions split down the middle. Definitely seems like the opinions are either you love it and think it's cool or you hate it. I actually think I like it although, with it's size, I'd like to see it include an integrated camera. Or maybe even some as-yet-unseen functionality. But ANY additional MS Smartphone that enters the market gets a big round of applause from me. The fact that it's from a company that is new to making handheld phones, is a big plus in that it shows that the excitement over the platform goes way beyond Microsoft and a simple few hardware manufacturers. Like ice-cream, there will be a flavor for everyone. The exciting part is that we'll actually have a growing number of flavors to choose from. Though you may not think it's the phone for you, you have to be glad that it's not just another SPV clone. The keyboard may not be your cup-of-tea, but I give credit for ingenuity and believe there are a large number of users who like the keyboard design, beyond myself. Maybe this will get some of the wheels turning at some other design/engineering offices. God bless the Smartphone!
Guest gspacedboy Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 You would almost think it is a step back in evolutionary terms for the smartphone range.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Ice cream? Yup, it's coffee...
Guest Crispy Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 But ANY additional MS Smartphone that enters the market gets a big round of applause from me. The fact that it's from a company that is new to making handheld phones, is a big plus in that it shows that the excitement over the platform goes way beyond Microsoft and a simple few hardware manufacturers. I agree! ... the more the better! ... and on top of that I think it looks ok too! ... very inovative ;)
Guest Gorskar Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 Oh no I do applaud the effort by all means, but look how that hinge will end up right in the middle of the keyboard, stopping you from quickly moving your fingers from one side to the other. I like the fast processor though. My next phone HAS to have a faster processor. NB that means that neither the motorola nor the e200 is going to cut it for my purposes.
Guest morpheus2702 Posted October 9, 2003 Report Posted October 9, 2003 A big round of applause even when it advances the platform a nanometre? Come on people, you really think Smartphone will prosper when poor... sorry, TRAGIC designs like this come out? Stick this abortion next to a P900 and which one are people going to choose? We should expect more, expect BETTER!!!
