Question:

How bad is your battery life on your SPV E100?

Mine is doing my head in, fully charged this morning at 9.30, went to work, only used once to phone a friend (lasted 5 mins 03 sec), finished work at 6pm, got home at 6.15pm, (not used it since last call) now has "warning battery low"

HOW CRAP?????

What comment are you expecting here, check your phone is set up to screensave after 1min, and keylock, even with gprs polling every 15 mins, msn logging on whenever a connection is present, and making a fair few calls, in low signal areas, i get a full day (8am -2am) before battery low. (using one of the foreign updates maxxes battery life).

If you are in a poor signal/no signal area will DRAIN your battery very fast.. turn off radio before entering the london underground for example..

Will,

What I was after was to find out if anyone else was having problems like mine (with their batterys). I did not what some bloke with an attitude problem treating me as though I am thick.

I dont use the MSN, GPRS is deactivated while I am at work (I use a pay as you go no (gprs on it), while at work for cheaper texts - contract on days off). I know all about the phone and the ways to get the best out of your battery, mine is just crap.

I wanted to know if others were in the same boat, or if just me, then I would ask orange for a replacement battery.

If thebattery is not lasting very well you could try and ask

Orange for a replacement battery.

Ideally you should be looking at least 2 days depending on usage.

With the 1.5 update there has been a mixed response about battery

life, unless there is a dodgy batch of batteries that no one has flagged up yet :?

hey don't take offense, i did not mean to have an 'attitude' with you!! -

It's just that from your orignal post, (with no knowledge of how long you have had the phone, how much you know about setting up the phone etc) I just provided information on how long MY battery lasts, and some hints on getting the most out of the battery?

Battery life is very variable on how you use the phone (as i'm sure you know). my point was that running the screensaver, and turning off when in areas with no signal (ie the underground) make a dramatic increase in battery life..

The best thing i can advise you is if the battey life HAS deteriorated recently, to speak to Orange, if this has always been the 'lifespan' of the battery with your usage level.. then i don't think a replacement will help. Most people gets a days 'average' useage without recharging.

Mines lasted 1 day well almost playing mp3s via the headset for around 1hr and a half maybe 2 ;)

pritc_s - battery life for the standard E100 is abysmal (that's the 1.5 version for you) - I was averaging a 24-36 hours between charges and with very little useage.

I've applied the iMate update which vastly improves this, so you should consider giving it a go. Bare in mind though that you can't go back to the Orange 1.5 afterwards and you will lose the Orange plug-ins on the homescreen, and Orange update.

I've never regrettted it though!
