How to run a program from a plugin on the home screen?

Hi there,

I was wondering if it is possible to run a program from your homescreen,

build in the homescreen so no RMU.

Is there a plugin that gives you this possibility and what is this plugin?

Presumably you mean something other than the standard Orange "icon/shortcut" plug-in (about 2/3 way down the first post on this ------>plugin thread?

Is there any program in particular that you're trying to run, or are you looking for a generic run-anything plugin?

Looking at the HelloPlugin sample code supplied with eVC++, it should be a relatively easy job to create a one-line text plugin which when clicked, calls a hard-coded application. But I could be wrong :wink:

I tried that before but it does not seem to work I prob do something wrong but I don't know what. I tried with the wmp also but I cant get it to work. You don't see anything on the homescreen.

If you know a solution let me know m8 :wink:

Seems the only ROM that has the shortcut plugin is the Orange ROMS. There may be one more....but I cant remember which.

Sounds as if you dont have a phone with the Orange ROM.

The plugin will not even show up on the homescreen if you dont.

That's true I use the qteq 7070 rom.

But the plugins from the rom should be the same or not?

Otherwhise some of the homescreens like pocket pc wouldn't work wel I suppose.

Other whise I have to put back the orange rom I just have to find it.

I'm from holland, and the ducht rom is not so easy to get.

And I have to go back from 1.5 to 1.3 so I lose also a lot of good things like filming with the camera.

If ya know a orange rom that has this posibility let me know so I can try it.

machineman, as encece says it seems that the short-cut plugin is only available with Orange ROMs.

And yes your right, if you use a homescreen that calls the Orange short-cut plug-in it wont work properly.

Do you have any Idea where I can get the dutch rom?

Otherwise the english rom will work also.
