Questions on "Windows" folder

Hi,

My phone keeps on giving a low storage space worning. When I checked, the "Windows" folder ( "windows" and NOT "IPSMWindows") is full of files. I bought this phone as a second hand phone, and I don't know what the previous owner had done with the phone. My questions are:

1. What are these two "Windows" folders? Are they both important?

2. In the "windows" folder there are several big files (1.65MB each) called "MsgQueueDataFileMicrosoft WDP SMS Protocol" and some other files with very similar names. What are these files, and is it OK to delete them (well... I tried deleting but the access is denied... so do anybody know how to delete them.. if its ok to do so?) ?

3. Or can I delete the "windows" file completely?

Thaks

I really don't know the answer to your questions...except the Windows directory is in your ROM and cant be deleted and necessary for the OS to operate.

The IPSM/Windows houses files/drivers that need to be written to the phone by various programs but can not be written into ROM...so don't delete that one either.

My suggestion, as I would suggest to anyone who buys a second-hand phone....is do a hard reset to erase all of the crap that accumulates over time.

I hard reset once a month as I add and delete alot of software...and many uninstallers do not really get rid of everything!

As for the low storage space warning.

After doing what encece suggested make sure when you install apps and games in future, that you install them to the storage card.

and as for point 2, these files are not that big so dont worry (for some unknown reason their size is misreported)

Thanks for the adivse. I may try a hard reset, but is it (doing a hard reset) risky? (I'm affraid that after that I might not be able to use my phone again !!! )

Thanks again

Nothing bad about a hard reset.

It will reset your phone to the factory settings.

But this is a good thing.
