Guest cybercamel Posted October 10, 2003 Report Posted October 10, 2003 Don't know if this is a bug, couldn't find anything about it in Search. So apologies if this should go somewhere else! Sometimes I'll get a text when my phone rings, but the text was sent hours before! It's almost as if the ringing has unstuck the phone to allow it to receive texts! This has happened a few times, and I've actually phoned my own number from my landline, if I know that I should be getting a text! Has anyone else noticed this problem, is it the phone or the network? I'm with Orange.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 What network are you on? I had a similar problem with O2 about a year ago, one reason for going back to Orange. This has been posted before, what happens is if for some reason you cannot receive an SMS the message goes into a stacking system where after x ammount of time it then tries to resend it's self. I don't know why I wouldn't be able to receive a text, it all can't be down to a poor signal! And it always takes a phone call or another text to get the original text. If it is in a stacking system, do you know how long it takes before it try's to resend itself. I seemed to have only had this problem since I did a hard reset!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 I believe it's about 30 minutes but you need Orange to confirm it. If you do get a poor signal that can be the main cause, I believe it was for me.
Guest cybercamel Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 It seems to happen a lot more now, it's nothing to do with the signal, thats always at full strength! I think it's something I'm going to have to put up with! :)
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I used to have it on a *cough* Nokia *cough* but it cleared up all by itself, and hasn't come back again in the last couple of months. I doubt it was signal related, because the phone it happened with was permanently attached to my PC as an SMS gateway, and the signal was around 80%.
Guest Simon Desser Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I was using my P900 today, and it did this all morning! In the end I kept sending myself texts, they didn't come, rang myself and the message came in instantly :? I went back to my Tanager, and everything seemed OK again :?

Never mind, send me the P900 and I'll get rid of it for you *rubs hands together* :) Hehe :( you wouldn't believe how many offers I've had for it from Symbian freaks :shock: I'm hoping it's a network glitch (not my P900 :cry: ) 'cos later, back on my Tanager, delivery reports seemed to be very hit & miss as well :?

Didn't even realise that it was a problem until Simon mentioned it :) I just thought it was something to do with the network or phone that I was sending the text too. Ah well you live and learn :?
Guest cybercamel Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 It's getting worse, I rang my phone to 'unstick it' and got my voicemail! I had a full signal and had been using without problems about 3 hours previously! As soon as I turned it off and back on again I got 4 texts, all of which should have arrived 2 hrs before I got them!!!!! Help!!!!
