Hi all!

Does anybody know if there is any application that can be used as a timer to execute programs on given times? :?:

No...but that would be a coold Idea. You could have WMP open in the morning and wake to music!

Yeah! That too.. I was thinking of a way to use "SpeakingClock" as a wake up alarm and even maybe having the phone speak the time every hour. It should be fairly simple I think.

There is a number of application launchers out there I found one for pocket pc called "GetSetGo" witch schedules applications to run at specified times. Sadly I have not found anything for SmartPhone.

that's exactly what I've been looking for as well to get an hourly time read out by speaking clock...must be something out there somewhere ;)

Hey I was reading about the "Biometric Login" Prog. in Thread http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=62388 where a brilliant Idea was mentioned. Somebody had renamed the BioLogin.exe to BioLogin.scr (Screen Saver) and got it running on a timer with the help of "Pocket Candy"! Brilliant indeed... so I thought I'd try to do the same with SpekingClock.

I renamed the SpeakingClock.exe to SpeakingClock.scr and copied it together with the wav files to: Storage CardProgram FilesPocketCandyScreenSavers (I have Pocket Candy insalled on SD Card). Then in Pocket Candy settings I was able to choose "SpeakingClock" as my "screensaver".

Haha! The lady speaks the time every minute! Offcourse every minute is a little silly and sadly the maximum delay you can set set is 15 min. Getting closer to a solution though... should it not be possible to increase the delay time in "Pocket Candy"? Anyone?

Hmm... there is another problem, obviously the timer in Pocket Candy resets as soon as you touch anything on the phone. Having a delay of 60 min. would mean that you would have to leave the phone untouched for 1 hour to let the clock speak! Did'nt think about that... well anyway, it's a start.

Not that its all that important...

MS signing criteria states that you cannot have timers running in background processes.

Also, if you happened to use enough apps after executing the timer then it's possible the process would be killed to free up more memory, and therefore would not be exectuted...

Hmm.. Ok, but how come pocket candy stays up in the background at all times? Shurely the functions in Pocket Candy that trigger screensavers after a given delay would not look that different to what such a timer app would look like?
