I don't get it, how come the SPV E200 is running smartphone 2003, whilst the new Sierra smartphone is running an OS called Windows Mobile 2003? aren't they the same thing? from what I heard in the past, the newest version of smartphone 2002 was suppose to be called Windows Mobile 2003, so now there's two of them? or is it called WM2003 and the E200 is running it as well?

Windows Mobile is the new brand name for Microsoft powered mobile devices. So:

Smartphone 2002 is now Windows Mobile 2003 for Smartphone and Pocket PC 2002 is now Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC.

Smartphone 2003 / Windows Mobile 2003 both mean the same new Smartphone software. ;)

the "Microsoft Smartphone" name was dropped because of the negative connotation "microsoft" has. People feel better about the "Windows" brand name than "Microsoft", thus the change.

... and who are these "people" whom you speak of? ... Microsoft = Windows ... Everyone that use a computer knows that!

there was also a lot of negative feedback from the word Smartphone as Nokia, Samsung etc also call their phones smartphones, and so can get very confusing (as we've seen many times on this forum)

Close!

Smartphone 2002 = Windows Mobile 2002 software for Smartphones

Pocket PC 2002 = Windows Mobile 2002 software for Pocket PC

Smartphone 2003 = Windows Mobile 2003 software for Smartphones

Pocket PC 2003 = Windows Mobile 2003 software for Pocket PCs
