Guest anthonyv Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 ok here's a question that i can't get around, i've been trying to find a way round this problem, the reasons and solutions but have had no joy at all. The situation is as follows. I have live streaming audio using a shoutcast server, and in order to listen to the live stream i can go to http://:8000 using winamp. i wasnt to be able to listen to the live stream (which is running at 24k) thru my smartphone 2002, however this isn't possible at the moment. 1st question: is there a way i can listen to my live audio stream using any software to connect to it thru my spv? 2nd question: if not, what can i use to stream that will allow me to listen via SPV? cost of gprs is not an issue as i have unlimited free gprs. ok, second situation/issue is as follows: i also have a live webcam streaming 24/7 using windows media encoder 9... again, i want to be able to watch this using my SPV. 1st question: how can i watch this on the spv, baring in mind the access url is: http://:8080 2nd question: if this is not possible, how can i make it possible? in summary: i want to be able to watch my live webcam and listen to live stream when i want thru my spv. i am currently using shoutcast for audio streaming and windows media encoder 9 for webcam. how can i access the streams as they are now? if this is not possible, what software must i use to make it possible. when trying to access the webcam i get an error about how i may not be connected to the network, file may be missing and so on. any help will be much appreciated. thankyou.
Guest Richie M Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 AFAIK Shoutcast is not supported on the phones. WMP on the phone can stream media but it does not support Encoder 9 files :?
Guest anthonyv Posted October 12, 2003 Report Posted October 12, 2003 ok, thanks for that... rite, so fair enough i can't access shoutcast, ok, but accessing the stream, what should i use to encode/stream instead? i've heard about windows media encoder 7... is that what i need to be using to enable viewing of the webcam stream via my spv? any help is much appreciated. thanks..!
Guest Richie M Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 Sorry for the late reply, yeah Encoder 7 is fine ;)
Guest benjymous Posted October 13, 2003 Report Posted October 13, 2003 WME9 lets you pick what encoder to use, so you can make it use a v7 or v8 codec which work fine I've successfully had Winamp playing, WME broadcasting the "what you hear" input over the internet and my phone connected and playing quite happily (tho only for a minute or so, out of fear of scary phonebills), but it does work
Guest anthonyv Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 ok, i will give it a shot.. i don't pay for anything except calls for my mobile, so not worried about the cost issues for listenin 2 live streams.. much appreciated.. thanks guys!
