Halo for PC performance problems...

So anyone else have major performance problems??? I was on the phone with MS support for 2 hours just to figure out how to get the game to run and now the performance is really slow and I don't know what to do (besides buying a new computer!)... I really don't understand why it's so slow... I can play Battlefield 1942 no problem at the highest settings. I put Halo on the lowest settings and it is still very jerky and totally unplayable when moving around outside of buildings, especially in the darker lit areas... I would have thought my PC could handle it no problems but maybe not... Any ideas???

Here's what's inside my PC:

- Pentium 4 1.6 ghz

- XP Home edition (5.1 build 2600)

- 1024 MB RAM

- Video card = ATI Radeon 9500 Pro with 128 MB DDR RAM (updated with latest drivers)

Just found a TON of people with the same type of issues on the newsgroup microsoft.public.games

I had alot of problems when running in 1024*768, but its running very smooth in 800*600.

thats dissapointing... ive got a P4 1.8, 512 DDR and a 128 Geforce 4. you'll have to keep us posted because i wont bother buying it if it will only play smoothly in 800x600

I don't know what you mean by high AA or AF, so I would guess mine aren't set high because I didn't manually make any tweaks other than those in the advanced display settings... I can't even play in 640x480.... Alot of the posts I've been reading say that for some reason the lower end computers can play smoother than high end computers... I really don't get that but will keep messing with settings and hopefully figure it out...

TBH the PC version aint a Patch on the XBOX version ...

Its slow sluggy and not as "FAST-PACED" as teh XB one .....

I know it is not down to my PC setup - P4 3gig - 1024MB mem - 9700pro 128mb

Personally its a bad "port-over" by Microsoft doing the cashin in job again so they can get sales in before its Xmas and the game is ready ... Good Ols Microsoft eh ??!!

Just another console port it would seem...
