GPRS up! WAP up! MMS... problematic.

To refresh your memory, take a look at this thread:

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php...2046&highlight=

I came back from England (And Amsterdam) and the SIM is working again, even though it's displaying "42502" (Cellcom's GSM network code) instead of the oplogo "cellcom", but it's better than nothing.

Anyway, as I followed martin's helpful steps after getting the needed info from Cellcom, I got Internet explorer displaying both HTML and WML pages perfectly via GPRS, but I just can't seem to make MMS work.

I followed everything martin said but all I get is "Unable to send message, moved to drafts folder".

The problem is with the "MMS Setup" application, I don't really get what it's all about, and if I'm trying to setup MMS, why am I editing the GPRS connection and not the GPRS connection?

And if the MMS ip's port is 9207, where do I enter it? GPRS setting under "MMS Setup" or MMS setting under "MMS Setup"... and what's MMSC? all I got is an MMS address which is: http://mms.cellcom.co.il and access point "mms".

Anyway, all the settings are entered correctly under the "Data Connections" menus, but I just need some help in order to understand what's going on with "MMS Setup".

Thanks for any help...

Hi ranzz

How was Amsterdam ? , ;)

MMS has been setup OK on other networks so hopefully it should work if you create a GPRS connection with the following.

Description : Cellcom MMS

Connects to : MMS Connection

Access point: mms

User name:

Password:

Primary DNS: (blank)

Secondary DNS: (blank)

IP address: (blank)

The 'connects to MMS Connection' will pass the incoming MMS data to the SPV's MMS software. The 'Access point:mms' will be used when requesting a data connection for the MMS service.

For the MMS setup you can allocate the above GPRS connection. Note that it is also be possible to create a CSD dialup conenction and use it for MMS transfer if the network supports it.

Programs Settings - Accessories - MMS setup

First field: Cellcom MMS

IP: ?

Port: 9201

Mmsc Address: http://mms.cellcom.co.il

The port shoud be 9201 (or 9203 for secure data transfer).

MMSC address= Address of the Multimedia Messaging Service Centre

The only information missing is for the IP address which you will need to confirm with the network provider or you can extract it from another phone model. It is sometimes the same as the WAP IP proxy address.

If you get it all working can you post the full setting in the GPRS repository. It's a good one to keep in our collection

Hey Martin ;)

Amsterdam was great, so was England. :D

Anyway, I have all the info and would be happy to post it, and Orange IL's info as well, I just gotta get past this annoying matter.

I'm having a little problem understanding why in the MMS Setup application I'm editing the "Cellcom GPRS" connection and not the "Cellcom MMS" connection?

The ip for the MMS server should be 212.150.203.37 and I was told that the port is 9207... is it normal that I can't even ping that ip (or the Wap server's ip 212.150.203.33) from my computer? maybe they only allow access from within the cellcom ip network...

Anyway, the dillema is what to do under MMS Setup, should I edit Cellcom GPRS or Cellcom MMS? and use ip 212.150.203.37 or 212.150.203.33... port 9201 or 9207. cause nothing seems to work.

Oh, and I got an MMS to my inbox, but there was an error actually downloading the message.

Thanks again martin, you're a great help.

Humm.. as long as I opened a thread, I'll ask a couple more questions ;)

First, I always seem to get a fake SMS when I boot the phone, meaning I start the phone and there's an incoming sms sound, with the envelope appearing, but there's no actual message waiting.

Second, what's the name of the program that makes screenshots?

thanks

Oops, I never even noticed that (even after I copied and pasted it ) Your quite right it should say Cellcom MMS. I've changed it now ;)

I'm not sure about the port 9207 as all the networks so far have used port 9201 and I thought this was standard.

I suspect that the MMS IP will be 212.150.203.37 only because they have given you seperate address from the WAP proxy.

When the phones MMS settings are correct the next most common reason for MMS not working is because the network provider has not activated MMS in your network account. Have you used MMS before ?

Yeah, I had a 3650 before that and I used it all the time for MMS, and then a T68i too. but all of that doesn't matter now... CAUSE IT WORKS!!!

Well, kinda ;) I finally managed to send a message!! which is great, haha cleaned out my drafts folder from all the damn unsent messages... but... I can't seem to get a message, I got MMSs in my inbox but as the "downloading message" banner flies over the screen, it'll eventually say "transfer failed" and I will not actually get the message...

Anything else you got for me? :D (btw, the whole problem was caused by me trying to edit the Cellcom GPRS connection under MMS setup    )

I put Cellcom GPRS on purpose to make you sweat for it.

It needs the 'Connects to MMS Connection' in Cellcom MMS to make sure the received data is passed to the MMS software. If this is set then it should allow the message download.

I wonder if there is a problem saving SMS & MMS. Goto show folders from inbox and check for anything that needs deleted. Make sure the IPSM directory is not stuffed with files.

Also make sure your in a good signal area because MMS really needs it.

It totally works ;)

I just talked to my friend who works at the Cellcom Data and Internet phone support line and he told me some phones get crappy support from the Cellcom MMS server, meaning they can only recieve text but will fail upon downloading other objects contained in Multimedia messages.

Anyway, I am capable of chatting via MMS which was the whole point, cause it's free on Cellcom, it isn't fully established yet.

problem is, I just picked a skin today that doesn't write MMS count on the home screen, which isn't a big problem but... why doesn't an incoming MMS make any sound??? it justs gets to the inbox silently.. arrgh!
