Guest Tomas Kocanda Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Did you received this e-mail? Dear Windows Mobile-based Smartphone Customer: In an effort to ensure the latest security and privacy protections, Microsoft recently made an update to the .NET Messenger Service which requires customers to install an updated client in order to continue accessing the Service after October 15, 2003. Microsoft is working with its mobile operator partners to make updates available for Windows Mobile-based Smartphones soon. Some Windows Mobile-based Smartphones will have the latest security and privacy protections out-of-the-box and customers will not need to take any action in order to access MSN Messenger after October 15. You can learn more about the availability of MSN Messenger updates for Smartphones at the Windows Mobile web site. We apologize for any service interruptions in the event that updated MSN Messenger clients are not available for some Smartphone customers immediately after October 15. This update only applies to MSN Messenger. No other voice, data, or software functionality on Smartphone is impacted by this update. Please visit our web site for additional information on update availability. Here is my answer to Microsoft: Friends, thank you for your e-mail sent today, where you explain your reasons for changes in .NET Messenger service. All is great, but, on the update page http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/res...smartphone.mspx is nothing, what will help me, as user of Smartphone, to use the service after today. So, I would like to know, how is possible, that you change certain service specifications without option of certain group of legal users of your service, to update the system? Smartphone is very new, introduced on our market just few months ago. MSN Messenger was one of major reasons for me to purchase E100 from my operator and to use Microsoft driven Smartphone. I now see, what it means in praxis - you can do whatever you want without option for users to update and continue using this service. Thanks God, we have another option - to switch to Jabber and I hope many users will do the same change and will not return to MSN even when you will once come with the update or new Messenger for Smartphone. Thank you for excellent service. You demonstrated, what you mean by "customer care". Tomas Kocanda [email protected] And here is reply: Thanks for asking the MSN Messenger Update for Windows Mobile.
