Cool stuff with Webcam/Remote Desktop

Been messing with home security using my recently found Kodak Webcam, and discovered a nifty piece of software from Inetcam.com which allows you to not only see live webcam footage, but can also broadcast your desktop. See the pic for how I'm using it ATM. Saves me logging into MSN until I *want* to talk to someone, and I can see when new email arrives, all from my work PC (which have blocked most webmail, msn services) I thought it was pretty cool!

Oh, you can also password protect any of the broadcast data (webcam footage, Desktop and audio). It works really well.

Been doing this for years mate. You should check out VNC, does the exact same thing except it works on all operating systems, so you can view Windows on a Linux box etc, it's open-source and totally free. Anything that'll run java can also do it, there is even a web page applet version. Someone half-ported it to the SPV as well (woohoo, on-topic now! ), but never finished it unfortunately. :)

Damn good if you want a bit of privacy on a public PC, e.g. a net cafe, and as you say, getting around firewalls.

I'd watch your security though. Unauthorised access or monitoring is a total no-no, so make sure it's all encrypted. I use SSH to tunnel VNC myself, pretty much unbreakable.

PS Did you notice that the gritters hit the streets of Glasgow last night? Brrrr!!

Nah, but I live there. Your title bar in the screen shot gives your job away.
