Do Hexacto or IA have anything to say about ppl that do this ?
Guest midnight Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 that is actually a MoDaCo member beleive it or not, they have had a warning from myself about posting the url and advertising the Cd, and they also claim that they did not know this was illegal ps modified your post to remove the link :)
Guest DMF Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Unbelievable that some1 has less tact than a room full of nazi's on a swearing marathon. Stuff's free because of the generosity of modaco members helping to enhance and improve our beloved phone. I absolutely despise ppl who for whatever reason think they can sell other ppls work for profit. sorry to sound like a complete s*** but i do despise obvious piracy. For punishment in the modaco world I would allow him to sell the cd's (minus the hexacto stuff etc..) Let him keep enough to cover the cd's used and put the profits gleened from ppls hard work here, to help out this community; for example - paying monolithics next hosting bill. As for spreading stuff that you have to pay for, stuff with copyrights on it .. and not know it was illegal ? - i mean *shakes head* how nieve can you be ?? unless you live in a box and sell from a hotmail account on ebay via a net-caff ! jeez. I tel ya what, if I see another of these auctions ill join it, grab the persons address and submit it to the companies involved to deal with rather than post it here. I appreciate the fact that that this person has had a warning, which im assuming is why the url was removed... but if the person in question has had a warning, and is doing it again - they deserve exactly what community feedback they get; which I would hope is extremely angry and negative. In the meantime im reporting this person to ebay as a software pirate, to elspa, fast and fact as well as the companies involved. They dont allow sale of CD-r cd's anyway. thieves should be punished to the full extent of the law - they damage communities like this one and make good-natured programmers and designers wonder why they bother working so hard, only to be taken advantage of.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Unfortunately there is always scum who like to make money off other peoples hard work  The best thing you can do is to mail ebay when you find thieving trash and get their auction stopped.
Guest DMF Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Already done, saves the auction screen as an mht file which ill forward to fact and fast and elspa tomorrow. That is unless the coward theif makes a public apology here in this thread, in which case ill leave it in ebay's hands.
Guest DMF Posted October 14, 2003 Report Posted October 14, 2003 Found another Pirate: Helen Roe : {contact details removed} Currently selling on ebay via cd for £6 : Doom, Motor cross racer, X rally, Pocket grandmaster, Bust em, Interstella flames, Invasion, Micro turismo, Loghic, Slurp, Rebound, smartris, snake 2, Tomato blast, Snowflake, Tenis, SPV man, Pocket TV, Screen Changer, Divx player, Pocket Music, Thermo, speaking clock, Orneta notepad and many more!! Also several Classic Arcade Emulators such as Game Boy emulator and Snes emulator all of these have roms to play on them eg Mario brothers!! Also If your phone is not unlocked there is the software to do this with instructions. Its official orange software they provide free anyway, you just need to know where to goto get it, or buy my cd and save months of searching and collecting. ----------- Anyone want the address ? - or do we protect software pirates here ? - Time for a name n shame forum IMHO.
Guest Vector Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Yup, this kinda thing really gets to me too :) and the second one u just mentioned is even selling a GB rom in the CD
Guest DMF Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Yeah - no qualms about rom spreadding; again i passed the info on to the relative authoritative bodies. Maybe im a Bastid spoilsport, but i deftly disapprove of ppl who seem happy to get their cash be reaching into other ppls pockets. Im going to enquire on the lot as I see em, and info i get ill post here in this thread - its about time some1 spoke up about these rip-off artists gettin rich off of your, and others hard work. Ok so im a stick in the mud - but this really eats at me. When I want something - I BUY IT ! - Least I know its an original.
Guest Richie M Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 The first one i reported to FAST the other day :) The second one, my report to FAST will follow :( Come on people lets shut these scum bags down!
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Can someone post info on how to report dodgy auctions to Ebay, FAST etc. On QXL there's a link on every auction to report it, but I can't find anything equivalent on Ebay
Guest Maverick Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Found another Pirate: Helen Roe : {contact details removed} I had a lengthy email conversation with this particular person. I tried to reason with this person that its not nice to sell stuff that is available for free !! But it was like banging my head against a brick wall. While the actions of these people is despicable, I am appalled that they are able to find some really dumb customers out there who ACTUALLY pay money and buy these stuff !!
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 yasirp claims that he is having difficulty stopping his auction and he is also claiming that he will not sell to anyone either.
Guest Crispy Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 I had a lengthy email conversation with this particular person. I tried to reason with this person that its not nice to sell stuff that is available for free !! But it was like banging my head against a brick wall. Stupid people do stupid things ...

Guest DMF Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Another one - Only way to stop criminals is to get 21st century on their ass ! Guest DMF Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 I forgot to add.... {contact details removed} The idiot accepts cheque (and paypal of course) which leaves open his home address - n00b ! lol... Why not drop him a line, like I did, right to the police :) ** DISCLAIMER ** As a small point of note, it's been mentioned to me that posting pirates details here may lead to ppl FROM here contacting the pirate for the software - not advisable I think to pass your details to a man now known to the police as a theif, you will get yourself into very hot water, a result which can include confiscation of equipment, severe fine, suit from MS or court proceedings for handling stolen data/equipment. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. On the flip side, if youre one of the authors of what Mr Khan is selling, perhaps you would like to approach him for royalties.
Guest DMF Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 UPDATE TIME: I did a scan of ebay, in 10 pages of SVP stuff, i found only 3 auctions for PSV software - seems this thread is working and theres some decidedly dodgy members in this community who right now should feel very ashamed for cheating their friends. Here's what I got today :) - You shameful shameful people :( {contact details removed} Comment : Untrackable Hotmail Addy didnt save you this time PIRATE ! lol... -=-=-=-=-=- £10 CD - Pointless listing as its the same stuff everyone else has.... {contact details removed} Comment : Come out come out wherever you are :D the authors of the copyrighted software you sell want a quiet word
Guest midnight Posted October 26, 2003 Report Posted October 26, 2003 Please dont post any details (email, real address etc) about people selling pirate CD's, I know you mean well by exposing these people, but in a way, you are allowing people on this forum to contact them directly to get the cd's etc.
Guest DMF Posted October 27, 2003 Report Posted October 27, 2003 I understand ... sorry .. plz delete this thread.
Guest nixy Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Having found and read this complete thread this evening we would just like to say that "WE ARE NOT AMUSED"either...... We too are appalled at the way these muppets can flaunt their home made wares without a thought for the coders, writers etc and who would have otherwise gotten away with it. NICE ONE GUYS!!!!!! My wife says "hang the bstrds" Lets hope that ebay does what it should and look into this itself too. nixy
Guest krankie Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I for one would actually be interested in purchasing a legitimate version of such a CD if one exists (i.e. which has the approval of the copyright holders). Does one exist? Surely this can be likened to Red Hat profitting from Linux by distributing it as one package to save the end user much time and convenience? The mistake these guys have made is not getting permission from the copyright holders and agreeing royalty payments to include their software on the CD but the idea itself is not a bad one.
Guest midnight Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 maybe this is because the cd sells for a fiver or something, but a lot of the games on the cd sell for well over £10, so the sums just do not add up :) the total cost of this cd with licenses would be several hundred pounds
Guest midnight Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 DMF, I definitely wont delete this thread, its good to expose them, just dont post any addresses or contact details of any kind :) and if you do report them to the relevant authorities, good on ya, we need more like you :( if you'd like people to pm you for the info so they can get the details to report them or whatever then thats your choice, maybe even write a petition of some kind that can be presented to ebay to stamp out selling of smartphone warez cd's (you'd think ebay wouldnt allow this kind of behaviour anyway)
