no luck unlocking spv....

:) I've spent a good hour fiddling with fire wall settings, making the orange site a friendly one and then trying to get an unlock message to be sent out to my spv. No luck. its driving me nuts, all I want to do is try out some of your creations and hard work. it seems to me the raison d'etre of this phone is its ability to accept customisation and encourage creativity from the likes of you lot. any ideas :?: :|

Do you get the message saying that you will recieve the message?

if so make sure you have put the correct number in when unlocking

i.e. using the international prefix +44

didn't get the screen saying about message being sent. couldn't get passed blank screen. remembered to use the +44 in application form :?

Blank screen? I presume you mean on the Orange site?

You need to turn your firewallpopup blocker etc off to view

the unlock page.

i had turned off the firewall and yes it was a blank screen on the orange site. this directed me to a trouble shooter if the blank screen came up. i thought i'd done everything with the fire wall off and making it a friendly site. my status of computer muppet is obviously hindering my progress. will try again and check all protection settings that could be interfering. thanks :?

If you use Norton just disable it, that's what I have to do.

do you disable the whole thing, or just the firewall. :-k :?:

ok, i've done it and got the screen prompt. however no message as yet. the orange site says up to a day delay, so fingers crossed [-o< I may actually have succeeded for the first time to do something right on this bloody phone. 8-[ we will see. then i will attempt to load monolithix screen saver prog. whats the longest anyone has waited for their unlock message :?:

It can take over night to get the message, it depends if you are using GPRS or Passthrough, if you are using Passthrough you need

to keep the phone connected to the PC and the internet.

ok that's twice i've gone thru the process for unlocking and it says a message will reach you in 5 mins, and twice i've waited overnight. nothing! what is this passthrough? is it possible i'm using it without knowing and thats where my problems are? Posted from my SmartPhone!

If you have GPRS enabled then don't worry about passthrough.

Try connecting to GPRS when attempting to unlock the phone.

A quick way to tell if everything is working OK with GPRS :)

Goto the this site for the register program.

http://developer.orangews.com/orgspv/downloaddef.aspx

Enter you mobile number in 'Download to my SPV' and press OK

If the mobile number is entered correctly then you should receive a text message.

Open the Text message and click on the address contained in the message.

If you have GPRS internet access setup correctly then the register.cab file should automatically download to the SPV.

If all the above works correctly then your unlock problem may lie with the developers site and I would send them an E-mail.

See details on the above link where it says...

3. You have submitted a Registry application and you still cannot unlock

Occasionally this error occurs. In this instance you can contact Orange support services direct via the link below and we will ensure that your problem is rectified.

i have tried unlocking the phone using the step by step procedure puiblished here. i also have downloaded the unlocking zip file. after the canary (3 colors) appear, i have exerteded enopugh effrots to locate my mobile device but my pc could't just locate it. what happened? i have turned the phone on and off several times but in vain. is it because i am using only a usb cable without a cradle for the phone? or is it because i have upgraded to a newer version of the operating system by my network provider? if the second reason is possible, could there be any other way i can unlock my phone.

I know it sounds strange but the only way I could get my original SPV decerted was NOT to put the +44 part in and just put my number in with the normal dialling prefix e.g. 07973xxxxxx

Don't know why or how it worked but it did,

Might be worth a try if you haven't already :)

Best of luck

This should send you to a text message straight away so I suspect this is where the problem lies. Is your phone number being entered correctly ?

For instance 07973 123456 would be entered +447973123456 (note no zero). If this isn't working then try PsychDave's method of using the number format of 07973123456. You should get the text message within a few seconds.

:? :? update. i have now recieved 5 action register messages and it has installed on my phone. the IMEI on the phone screen is different to the one on my orange box, it also says action lock is running, phone is registered. do i now just leave the download on the sd card and ignore the icon? i emailed the developers site earlier, will they be able to reply with the norton firewall up?

So the text messages are getting through OK but they are just bit delayed :? and the action register program was successfully downloaded to the SPV via the GPRS internet connection :)

The action register program says that action lock is running  and the phone is registered in the IMEI database :( so all thats needed (in theory) is to use the application unlock process. You are ready to go.

Try entering your details in the unlock site again and make sure you use the IMEI number is the one given by *#06# in the SPV. What this site should do is send a text message to the SPV which will trigger the SPV to automatically connect to an unknown internet site for the auto unlock. Unlike the action register text message, this unlock text may take some time to appear.

:? what should i press after #06# as if i press the green phone symbol it says invalid parameters. will try again again again in the mean time with IMEI no i have on orange box. thanks
