Orange SPV Voicemail Indicator

I logged a call with Orange in the beginning of May. It's a known problem that has effected many SPV handset Orange users.

Basically the voice mail indicator symbol does not go out once you've deleted the mail unless you keep listening to the VM 10 seconds after you delete the message. If you forget to do this the only way to reset it is to leave yourself a voice mail, listen to it and then delete yourself (wait 10 seconds again!). So Orange are on a money earner here.

I decided contact Orange again this month after being patient, thinking they might release a fix. They said that the bug had been "archived". When pressed (after speaking to the team leader etc) they said they are still working on it but could not supply me a fix. They said they already supplied me with a temporary solution (clearly not acceptable, and anyway it's a workaround, not a solution). I since found that my previous call in may wasn’t even logged as a problem, just a sentence hanging around in one of their “notes” field.

I asked to get my phone replaced with a different smartphone model. No way hozay they said. So they won't budge, they're not supplying goods fit for purpose, and they are profiteering from their workaround. It would be fair enough if they supplied a phone with a non essential feature that didn't work, but this feature is completely essential.

Please if there is any Orange users out there with the same problem, give handset support a call, ask to speak to the team leader, and give them some stick. We need to wake Orange up on this one!!!!

Cheers

Alex

Well thank you orange....

Try asking for a refund to all calls you have made to your answerphone. You never know your luck

This is a known Network bug NOT a Smartphone bug, it can happen

on any phone on the Orange network, so asking for a replacement will

not cure the problem.

All you have to do is to remember to wait for a little bit after hearing the

message deleted confirmation before hanging up.

Isn't listening to voicemail on Orange free anyway?

Yes a network bug, but seems to affect htc handsets more than anything else..

And really a bug like this if it COST orange money, would be fixed, but as it is a revenue GENERATOR, i can see them 'thoroughly' and 'steady' investigating it.

yep I'm still getting this all the time and each time I'm ringing up and speaking to a different person. and each person seems to have a different way of fixing the problem! All very funny, one person even told me there was now an orange update available and all I had to do was download it, was all excited there for a minute!

Anyway they took my address details and everything last time and promised to get back to me. So we shall see...

love and hugs

I've had this bug for years on every orange phone I've owned. Never knew about the wait 10 seconds fix though... Sorry Alex, I mean workaround :( I'll start using that one :)

Why not try oftel? This is a major problem that looks to have been around for a long while, and O are profiting from it. Pretty clear-cut, I'm sure it's not a complicated fix. Jeez, it's probably just a change to an ini file on their voicemail server.
