Paul's "Flat rate GPRS" petition made me wonder about past polls of MoDaCo members.

I did a search and found these:

What will you do when £6 unlimited package ends?

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=54404

Use £6/month.....17%

Use less.....37%

Use more.....14%

Stop GPRS.....30%

Would you join a mass GPRS cancellation?

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=62524

Yes - early June.....15%

Yes - mid June.....4%

Yes - late June.....19%

No - prices are fine....0%

No - Cant live without it.....20%

dont care.....3%

just tell me when.....36%

I think the GPRS packages are...

http://smartphone.modaco.com/viewtopic.php?t=91330

Fine.....0%

Too generous.....0%

Too tight.....38%

Unmetered is the only answer.....61%

No GPRS.....0%

CSD is for me.....0%

So what does all that mean?

At the time the polls were taken (not all at the same time BTW)

67% of replies said they would use less (or no) GPRS after the unmetered package ended

77% of people were (or claimed to be) prepared to cancel their GPRS in protest over the costs

61% wanted unmetered and "dont mind paying for it" (no price was specified)

Has anyone told Orange?

I think that everybody piped down about GPRS costs, because . . . the mobile email promo meant that effectively you got unlimited umetered access for free for 3 months.

Since that promo is due to expire in the October bill cycle, i think everyone is thinking about it again.

I have to say that i use about 400mb a month as I travel alot and use it with a laptop. i will need to explore other options . . . some quick sums indicate a bill of around £2k  heh heh.

GPRS should not cost anymore than unlimited home internet access. They must be joking!!

It's not as if it's faultless or any faster!

I've heard over the next month Orange will be reviewing their GPRS packages to come in to line with Europe prices. This should mean a price cut for us :)/
