Guest davidhorn Posted October 15, 2003 Report Posted October 15, 2003 Well, after a prolonged period in development, I'm pleased to announce that the SmartGamer.org games database is now open for developers to add their games to. It's completely free and automated - you can add as many (or as few) of your games as you wish. I'm hoping that if enough developers submit their games the database will provide a definitive resource for SmartPhone gamers everywhere! It's easy to add your games - just visit this page to get started. You can use HTML to add extended desciptions or screenshots, and to create formatting. When the public view your games, they'll be provided with direct purchase links, and will also be offered shortcuts to your websites and support pages. Your games will be easily editable by you, and an option is available for you to have them featured in the listings. Please go here to find out more information and to get started! If you wish, you can have a look at the public front-end of the database by visiting http://www.smartgamer.org/forums/gameindex.php although at this point you might find it rather empty! Do get in touch with me if you have any questions at [email protected].
Guest davidhorn Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 So not one developer wants their game listed? I do wonder now why I bothered spending the time creating it.
Guest chucky.egg Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 You have to give them a chance! it's only been 2 days between your first post and this one! Your site had some very strange entries before, which didn't do your reputation much good IMO... give them a chance, and do some publicity and I'm sure it'll take off
Guest goinnuts Posted October 17, 2003 Report Posted October 17, 2003 true true. bob the bloody builder. what.
Guest midnight Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 also, why dont you try contacting games makers instead of expecting them to come to you?
Guest muff Posted October 18, 2003 Report Posted October 18, 2003 the other point I'd raise, is did you ask games developers if they wanted such a site first?? "if you build it, they will come" only applies in Kevin Costner movies
Guest midnight Posted October 19, 2003 Report Posted October 19, 2003 in fact, just a word of advice, i would not have launched the site with no games on it, i would have asked lots of developers first, got the content, get it all up and running and then launch, that way other developers may see it worth their time to add their games. Then, get advertising the site. One thing, you have advertising from games companies on your site, such as hexacto, aim etc., why arent their demos there? I ain't having a go, just saying how I would have done it, and good luck by the way.
Guest Gorskar Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Hm, yes contacting the games developers directly would seem the next logical step. Thanks for the advice guys.
Guest davidhorn Posted October 28, 2003 Report Posted October 28, 2003 Already done :). Most are just incredibly busy... as I'm sure you know.

Many developers were asking for a way to add their games themselves, but I haven't got around to building a Pocket PC database yet.
