Guest Jedra Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 Has anyone experimented creating WAVs to use as ringtones? I would be interested what the most appropriate KHz/Bitsize is on the SPV?
Guest akarno Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 I found 8Khz 8bit mono fine. Some have said qualilty is not great, but you are only using it as a ringtone and the file size will be very small.
Guest chewie Posted December 16, 2002 Report Posted December 16, 2002 O.k try this on for size. for midi type ringtone sounds... Channel: Mono Bits: 8 frequency: 22050 for a song that you are using for a tone... Channel: Mono Bits: 8 frequency:32000
Guest Danlance Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Is it possible to use any type of compression for ringtones? Or must they just be PCM encoded?
Guest chewie Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 As far as i know they must be PCM encoded. I dont think the SPV has any other sort of decoder!
Guest rcraswell Posted December 17, 2002 Report Posted December 17, 2002 Yup, per the Smartphone docs, wav file ringtones must be PCM format 8 or 16 bit mono or stereo 8kHz to 48kHz --ron
