Guest smartfone Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 Recently I installed Comduits Pocket Player(http://www.conduits.com/ce/player/), which requires to install Microsoft Media Player for PocketIE. Maybe the storage space is not enough, the installation has failed to complele. The Pocket Music item has not appear on my Program list, but was listed on the Remove Program list of ActiveSync without checked. Then I remove the software from ActiveSync of my desktop and installed another software, Resco Explorer 2003 for smartphone. Now the strange thing happens. After the installation process of the Explorer, smartphone prompts me that it is going to install Media Player for PocketIE. And the installation for the Explorer was failed. After that, whenever I install software, the same problem is encountered, and results no other software could be installed. I tried to reinstall the Pocket Player and Media Player for PocketIE, and remove them once again in order to clean up the bug, but it didn't work. What is going on with the smartphone?
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 16, 2003 Report Posted October 16, 2003 The problem you have is that you have tried to install a ppc app not a Smartphone app. :) It sounds like you now have a failed install problem. To fix this you need to go to IPSMWindowsAppMgrInstall and delete what you find there. The contents of this folder can only be viewed using a file explorer on the phone ie Smart Explorer or with the latest version of Activsync, Activsync 3.6 cannot access the Install folder. Moved to Help and Advice
Guest smartfone Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 I followed your advice and went to the folder IPSMWindowsAppMgr, but there was nothing at the folder AppMgr, even I turn on the view all hidden files and folders option. I could not find Install folder there. My device uses Smartphone 2002 and the version of ASync is 3.7.
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted October 22, 2003 Report Posted October 22, 2003 Do you have a file manager on the phone?? as it does sound like you have a failed install. Also how much free memory do you have on the phone?
