Hey,

i am going to use my new SPV to replace my portable MP3 player. I have an adapter to use decent headphones and an SD card with all my music in 1 directory. Basically im after some software that will act as a kind of 'winamp' for my SPV. It needs to either have playlist support or be able to use a directory as a playlist (eg i can just scroll through songs in 1 dir as if it were a playlist).

Also, preferably free software but i dont mind paying a bit if its worth it.

Cheers

Windows media player on 2002 doesnt have an inbuil playlist/editor. I think its smartmp3 (freeware) that can be used.

i personnally use pocket music without any probs with ogg files, but may users have problems with it. you need need lots of free memory and no other apps running in the background suits me though.

looks like a great app, is it worth the 20 bucks though?

EDIT: been using it for a bit now, although the functionality is great, the songs become stuttery as can be so i think for the moment i'll stick to WMP....

WMP on 2003 better be A LOT better than this crappy version

Hey, I use WMP on 2002 all the time. Better than anything else I've tried, in that it works, doesn't stutter and automatically stops on incoming calls.

Make up playlists for it using some of the many tools. And, it plays windows media files, which at 96kbits are comparable to an 128kbit mp3, more space for music.

Downsides are that pauses forget song position after being paused for a while, and the lack of fast forward/rewind. The later can be worked around with playlists, e.g. if I put an hour long mix/live album on the phone, I'll make a playlist with tracks every 5 mins.

The playlist thing is a pain in the ass, however Pocket Music isn't really any better IMHO.

If you do music a lot, get a card reader. Much faster to copy that way than using ActiveSync.

Where did you find the adapter to use headphones on it????

I have tried to use adapters but they do not work. I have to pull the adapter half way out to get full stereo; otherwise I just get Right; I don't get both Left and Right!

Try Maplin.

Not the most elegant of solutions but it's only 80p and others on the board have said it works ok.

:) Welcome to the board btw

what is the mp3's bitrate? lower then 96kbit can make it sound like it comes out of a tin can :S

i have An e200 too.. and Use Wmp with 196kbit files(and 128kbit) and they work Great... nothing wrong with the sound...
