Weds... Memory becomes so full of Text messages that 'cRuNcH'... phone stops working. Phone up for new replacement. Said that my mate could be home from 1pm thurs

Thurs... Mate gets home at 2:30 and has missed delivery. Orange charge me £13 for another delivery... to take place at 1pm on friday.

Fri... I receive my phone and am very pleased that i have one back! Spend a few hours putting all my stuff back on it and trying to OTA unlock it (which in the end was unsuccessful) but then i realised that the phone they sent me had a dead button. the hash key. so i call up and complain... and we arrange a new one to deliver... but I also cheekily ask for my £13 back. I had been penalised for missing a delivery the day before, so surely they should concede too. And they did to my amazement!

Lesson learnt... Dont get if you don ask!

Here's waiting for my replacement tomorrow morning. This will be my 5th SPV!

Surely the worst case scenario here would be a hard reset :?: :?

Oh of course.... had they not disabled that in the last update. Whenever I restarted the phone in the bootloader, it wouldn't go past the 'Tri-Colour Canary' Screen

They've never disabled hard resets :? Are you sure you held the action key down at the right time :?:

it says press any key to enter bootloader, as it used to pre-update. Then it goes to Canary screen, as it did pre-update, but then unlike pre-update, it just hangs there.

Underneath that it says "Press & hold action key to enter DIAG" then, after holding action key it says "Hold action key for 1 second" as long as you get the timing right, it goes into "Canary Diag", if not it will just sit on the tri coloured screen.

They've disabled "Back ups and restores" etc., but not hard resets.

huh.... it doesn't say anything of the sort, but i've just tried what you said and it works fine. It didnt say it on my last phone with the update, and it doesnt say it on this one. Dman it. All that effort! Oh well, the screen was in a bad shape anyway. :)

quite frankly, if your phone gets f**ked up enough to deserve a hard reset, then there is probably loads else wrong with it (dust) and it is worth getting a new one, a hard reset is not something that orange actively endorse is it??

go for the new handset

Fair enough if there's other things wrong.

They seem to have accepted it now :) look here.

Q: How do I delete all my personal calendar and contact information off my device? I can't find a factory reset option and can't believe I've got to do it item by item.

A: Unplug the battery and SD Card, press and hold the power on and record button (top two buttons on left-hand side). Then, when prompted, press and hold the action button (centre of the navigational pad). Then select erase IPSM. This will take a minute or so and the screen will show 'successful' when completed. Then remove the battery. Replace it and restart the phone, and wait around 5 minutes for the phone to restart - all data and applications will have been removed.
